benq a33 - strange battery behaviour

Hi guys,

Picked up a BenQ A33EV22 on Thursday, and have had mixed fortunes so far with it. Machine itself seems fine, but I'm having strange battery issues. The battery refuses to charge unless it is totally discharged first. For instance, I'll get the 10% warning in Windows, switch to my AC power, and the machine picks up the change in power source. However, while it tells me the battery is charging, and the amber charge light on the laptop is lit, the charge % never actually increases. Turning the laptop off and letting it charge while not on doesn't fix the problem, as rebooting it hours later still shows the same level of charge.

Following tips from another forum, I allowed the laptop to discharge the few % remaining, reconnected the AC adaptor, and lo and behold, it started charging again.

Whilst I'm quite new to owning laptops, I have done a lot of work on them (job requires it), and this doesn't seem to be normal behaviour - the battery should resume charging no matter what the charge level is.

Is there a setting I am missing? Is it normal?

Cheers in advance.

Once in a while I forget this section even exists. Hope this guy is still here.

No it's not normal, if it's a normal notebook battery. Just one question: what kind of battery it uses?
