MMMM after further inspection this morning...(didn't open till late last night LONG story!) i have about just over a centimetre tall strip along the bottem of what i feel is quite bad light leakage.....I think i am definatly going to get dell to send a new screen beacause looking at other widescreen laptops in stores they have nowhere near as much as mine does...how have other peoples M170s been?

*sigh* same thing here. Just like my 9300. Here we go again. Took me 4 tries to get a decent lcd last time. I thought they supposedly switched to different lcd's for the m170?

My XPS 170 came in a few days ago, I am suprised on the backlight, very even, just a very faint line at the bottom, not even noticeable in DVDs, but semi in full darkness. The colors are great, and I am hoping over time it will fade a bit.

Patience, people. My light leakage was 1-1/2" when I got the laptop. It took a while to improve, but it's great now and I didn't have to get on the phone and waste hours w/ tech support.
