A funny observation

Thread Starter
I've been visiting the Apple part of this forum off and on for the past 2 years and the only regular posts were abf bashing Apple and everyone bashing abf , but since the release of Mactels and the advent of bootcamp, it seems that the traffic in the Apple sections have more than doubled. I guess more people are buying Macs.

Well a lot of people have said they'd buy a Mac if only they could run their windows only software on it so now that they can...
ill continue that for ya

so now that they can... THEY STILL WONT BECAUSE...someone continue this for me?

...because macs are still overpriced in the hardware dept.
...because they lack a 2nd mouse button.
...because you're required to buy software with it
...because they have a chronic motherboard problem

the list goes on really...

i am telling you...the day apple starts offering $500 coupons, a no software package, and adds in a 2nd mouse button...i will buy a mac.

Give us a break, guys...

It's fine if you don't like Apple or Macs, but I doubt you're going to sway people who do.

The lack of a second mouse button on the MacBook Pro is a legitimate gripe - but there are easy enough work arounds for this.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say this: abf, fück off.

If any of us came in and started posting in the Linux forums saying every bad thing possible about Linux you'd be screaming from the rafters. I'm so fücking tired of your attitude. Just get out. We all know your opinion so just get out.

i think there is a way of ignoring someones posts in the options section of cp...

Maybe I shouldn’t reply to this but I am going to anyway

1....because macs are still overpriced in the hardware dept.
I agree with this one. I can build a machine with the same spec, performance, and quality for much less than I can buy one from Apple. Even including my labor costs from ordering to a running system.

2....because they lack a 2nd mouse button.
All my two button mice are in a shoe box in a closet with a couple of 15” CRT’s and some old underpowered power supplies.

3....because you're required to buy software with it
I’m not sure what the point is here. Unless you buy a custom made machine specifically ordered without software (rare, try to find that in a store) you have to pay for software.

4....because they have a chronic motherboard problem
No more so than any other manufacturer, including the bare mobo’s you buy from motherboard manufacturers.

Yeah,.... Right.!

i never said windows was perfect. hell, my uniwill freezes when i unplug while its running in windows. and i never said pc parts were flawless, they all have issues.... but at least they come in no-software packages, have 2 mouse buttons (at least) and can be had for a fraction of what an equivalent mac would run.

I'd buy a 13" macbook for school next fall if it were priced about the same as the current 12" powerbook. I love the looks of my friends 12" powerbook, but like widescreen better, now that I've been using it on my dell 700m for about a year and a half. And with the release of bootcamp, it would make the transition to OSX alot easier.

I absolutely hate putting people on ignore. Even the worst ones can contribute sometimes. Besides if I put abf on ignore I'm just going to see "member is being ignored" every other post and that would just annoy me even more than seeing his actual posts.

What do you mean there is no second mouse button? I have a mouse for mac and it has a second mouse button. At the apple store they even showed me the apple mouse and how to use the built in software to set a right mouse click (the software defaults to the left and right doing the same action, but that is easily changed). Also, you can just hold ctrl and click the big button on the mousebook pro and it acts like a right click. I have owned my macbook pro for one day, and other than the heat this thing is awesome. Once I get bootcamp installed and windows xp on it to play games, i will be able to offer a better review, but as for the second mouse button... that is a load of crap.

barrok...yes there is ctrl+click but its annoying. the point is to have an actual hardware mouse button built in.

The amount of annoyance is a personal opinion. When my mother (longtime Windows user) got a G5 iMac I started looking for Mac compatible Bluetooth multi-button mouse and possibly keyboard also. In less than a week she was fully adjusted and extremely happy/satisfied with her new system.
Personally I use the right click on both my Linux systems and Windows boxes quite frequently, but I also adjusted to the Ctrl+Click very quickly. I also find myself using the arrow keys to scroll on my Linux and Windows machines after using the iMac, even though all those machines have scroll wheels on the mice or trackpads.

Two and three button mice are compatible with OS X, and there are companies who make ones that even look like the Mac ones. For notebooks, you can set up a tap to function as a right click - works very well. (This works for the G4 PowerBooks, assume there are similar options for the new MacBook Pros).

People who complain about no 2nd mouse button are either ignorant or just don't want to accept the facts therefor leaving themselves with something to complain about. Only fault I have with my macbookpro and the OS X software is the heat of the laptop. (i have an occasional whine, but very minute)
