9750's *STILL* on backorder?!?!?! - Page 3

No, it wasn't. I just got the free ground shipping through pctorque.
I had talked to ups and they said it isn't usually possible to upgrade to saturday shipping. It would have been nice though. I think it is bs that ups doesn't ship on saturdays, unless you pay more, when the us postal service even delivers on saturday.

Man that is strange, Sager was ready and willing to upgrade to Saturday Red Delivery. I checked the UPS tracker a bit ago and it's at the local dock here in San Antonio as of 07:23. What a mess. I hope by some miracle you get yours today. I'll update everyone when it arrives.

Hi All,

I actually, I can't believe it myself, got the box. I'm going through stuff right now. Good luck all - I'll post my observations as soon as I calm down.

Man, sorry to hear that. I'm working on getting a pile of software installed and going through the new users forum. Thanks for everyone's support. I'm typing from my new notebook.

Three quick notations:

1) It absolutely rules!
2) It's very heavy!
3) It gets warm.

Love it!

If you sent it Ground, then you can't upgrade it. If it was sent 2nd Day Air, it would've been possible to get it upgraded to Next Day Air, though. There's a reason for that, but I'm not going to get into it since you're obviously so biased that nothing's going to change your mind.

If you were really in a hurry, you could've paid a few extra dollars for 2nd Day Air. As for Saturday and no delivery, that's the way UPS is. Unless you pay for Air shipping and Saturday delivery. UPS didn't get to be one of the largest shipping companies in the world by being stupid. I can't say I agree with everything that they do- I definitely don't. But when you constantly slam on them just because you're peeved, it takes away from your argument. Ask Luke if you've got questions because he'd worked there for a number of years (as I had, too). Also, if you're particularly having problems with delivery, then perhaps it's time to be proactive about it and either call the 800-Pick-UPS (think that's it- been awhile) or go into your center and speak to a supervisor. If you've got as many problems as you say, that's not normal. I, for one, would like to hear their side of it. Or at least see the tracking #s for the "problems." Either you've got a bad driver or you're not telling the whole story.

Glad to see Wile got his on time. Hope it works out great

hey wiley what are your specs?
I slam them because I ship many many things every week.
I have been selling off a lot of stuff and saving up money for our big move to Japan in June. I have yet to have had a problem with fedex or usps, but have had several with UPS.
Now, don't get me wrong. Before all of these problems I LOVED UPS. I really like how convinient it is to print labels online. Also, UPS trucks come by here all the time, so at just about any given time of the day I could put the packages out and they would pick them up from my house with no problems at all.
I actually worked for UPS as well about 4 years ago when I had just started college. I was not a driver, but I worked in the sorting facility in Atlanta and is was a good job at the time.

It has just all gone down hill in the last 4 months or so.
UPS has nothing to say for themselves, but they have appologized.
Literally every package I order gets rescheduled, unless it has a Monday delivery date to begin with.

On two occasions I have been rescheduled from Fri to Mon, and then something happened which again delayed it to the following day.
Once, it was forgotten at the Roswell facility, the other time it went on the wrong truck.

The other recent issure I had involved the Computer I sold on here to Ca1n. You can PM him, he was more PO'd than I was.
He had traveled down to WA state from Canada to his relatives house in order to receive the computer. I next day air early am'd the package ($150) , and it was guaranteed to get there by 12pm. We were also told that it would be there anytime from 8am to 12pm, which was great.
So, Ca1n was there early in the morning, was like a 4 hour drive. He couldn't stay much past 12. But he again was assured by ups that it would be there.

.....some time later,
About 11:56 I check the tracking # on ups.com and it says delievered, no signature, left on the front porch area. I called him up and he said that he was sitting on the front porch and there was nothing...
Odd, I had required signature... and nothing there.
So I call UPS , they said they didn't know anything other than the driver reported the package was delivered.

Come 1:30ish the package arrives to a very angry Ca1n. On top of it being late, they guy lied about it. Since the guy lied about it, it has been very difficult getting a refund (since it was not there on time).
I called UPS and they were nice (always are in cs) and they told me I had to call the center there in WA state. I called and they told me they would have the weekend crew call me back asap (totally different crew handles weekends for those who don't know).
no call...
I have since called back three times and still have received no call from the ups center in wa.
I am really at a loss.

Further more, once Ca1n opened up the desktop it had been so badly beaten up that the hard drives had collapsed in the case and were on the bottom. The video card and sound card were popped out of their slots. Ca1n said it must have been dropped from a pretty high elevation.

Ask kat, she will tell you that we have made many a late night trek out to Roswell to get packages

I know nothing is perfect... or even great for that matter.
There is just no excuse when it comes to this kind of repetitive bad service...

You should know if you are in Japan.... this kind of service simply does not exist.

Well, anyway again nothing is perfect. Usps lost my blow off valve last year, and fed-ex has broken several things of mine as well.
We are all human

I wonder if they're doing some sort of restructuring of routes or something. There shouldn't be any reason for your service to go downhill all of a sudden. Hopefully you've been getting refunds for all of the late deliveries. They keep track of that sort of thing. At some point, some number-cruncher's going to notice a high occurence there and things'll start rolling downhill towards the local center (I would HOPE, anyway).

Definitely with you on the being grumpy at the last delivery problem. Stupid drivers don't do any good anywhere. I wish I were in the States. I'd call directly in for you. I had numbers that went to places where customers don't get to. I wasn't even supposed to have the number, but I got it. Don't think they liked it when I'd call in and chew them out. I'm pretty intolerant about blatant stupidity and expect service, so I did my best to help customers out when I felt that they had a solid case.

Worked in Atlanta, eh? Don't know if I ever had any issues there; Chicago was my biggest problem area. I was always fixing their errors (I'm from WA). So I do understand where you're coming from. But when the details aren't out in the open, it's kind of hard to listen to the berating- the actions of a few blacken the eyes of the many. Most everyone I worked with busted their butts for their customers, so that's why I think there's something going on w/ your particular center right now (new driver, redesigned route, etc.).

頑張ってね。

Seems like your specs are about the same as ours.
Not long before we'll get it now lol.
"Oogami" will be too busy to really do much with it, but I will see if he will let me go ahead and set it up for him and start the review/comparison with the 5720.

As for UPS, I think they must be restructuring something because sometimes we get packages at the very end of the day, and sometimes the beginning even when these packages update to "out for delivery" around the same time in the early morning.

Well, goodnight everyone... except Toast
Goodafternoon to you ! lol

Just finished playing a bit of Wolfenstein ET on it - better than my Viewsonic 19" LCD. A bit choppy now and then - not sure wha it is about.

My old Game Rig was an Asus PC-DL with dual 2.4Ghz Xeons 533mhz FSB, 1GB of RAM, WD Raptor and an ATI X800 Pro. Great box, but a pain to move around. I'll do some bencmarks between the 4800+ and the Xeons. I'm trying to decide wehther to part the Xeons out.

God I hope you get your boxes soon!

UPS - Hooray

My stuff is typically "Out For Delivery" between 5:30 and 7:30 AM

It usually reaches me by 4-6 pm that day, or god knows when the following day.

I find it hard to believe no matter where I live I'm always one of the last stops on the list. Guess its just one of lifes little mysteries. Either that or I pissed off some UPS guy years ago and hes been tracking me, slowly getting his revenge ever since.

Best of luck on the UPS curse!
