BF2 running ridiculously slow.

Just bought a new xps m170, added 2 gigs of ocz ram, PC4200 533mhz. Anyway, I've been running the demo just to shape up, ran perfectly. Then I installed the game, patched to the latest 1.22, and low and behold it can barely load up. It takes ages to load up, and when finally I click Join Game, it just stutters immensely and can hardly load. Any tips on how to solve the problem, as it's starting to piss me off.

Probably your Nvidia drivers, what version you running? 7800GTX I assume? Any overclocking?

I really hate your sig

uh weird, I have 1.5 and don't stutter, and I'm upping to 2gb after finals, anyways do you have the 6800 ultra or 7800gtx go?

honestly you should NOT be stuttering with 2gb. Do some mem test of the ram and see how many (if any) errors you get.

and you have a 'new' xps, and a lot of people make the mistake of not turning quickset (in your traybar) to 'maximum performance' so it might be running the cpu on 800mhz. Check it out.

When I check my stats with EA, it says the cpu is running at 798mhz, may be the reason, but i've checked a few times and it keeps switching to 2ghz and back, but even when its at 2ghz it still runs like shit. I just ran the demo again just to be sure, as that was flawless, and yeah the demo now runs like dogshit aswell. Something definately a miss here.

No overclocking, latest from laptopvideo2go, this notebook is a day old and is already causing me headaches. It runs the game, but its at a snails pace, and the snail is in glue.

I would start with the CPU. Set your power scheme to home/office

Something just seems very strange, the demo was running like butter, I then decided to install the full game, did, then I patched it, restarted like normal. I then load the game up, and it is just running like it's from the 1980's , it's ridiculous. I hope this isn't something that needs a technician to fix, hopefully there is some setting I can click that can solve this. I also have an audigy card, but I was using that on the demo and was working great also. All I have done is install the full game, and now it runs like crap. Anyone who can solve this will be my hero.

It might be your RAM. Run memtest for errors.

P.S.-I don't like ur sig either!

It was running great before though. Should I call Dell for assistance or are they useless? It was running great the demo, then I installed the full game now runs like absolute shit.

Hey mate, download Notebook Hardware Control and set it to Max Performance under the CPU speed tab.

There is SUPPOSED to be a Speedstep tab in the power management settings, but it's not.

Notebook Hardware Control turns off the power management while on AC, so you get the full 2.0ghz performance instead of the 800mhz-2.0ghz fluctuation.

I have it set to Dynamic switching while on battery.

your sig is offensive, distracting and annoying.

if any of you have firefox, download the adblock extension, right click on his sig and click "adblock image."

thanks to firefox, you won't have to see that crap anymore.

If you haven't already, try cleaning out the Dell bloatware.
