Yesterday I found this on internet. I tried it for sometime and it did work but only when firefox is minimized. However still I have to evaluate it fully so I can,t say it is successful for me or not?

What is great in IF 7 that u can,t find in Opera or Firefox. Both these browsers are far superior to IE.

it's all a matter of opinion. the same can be asked of what can you find in opera/firefox that you can't find in IE7?

Hmm, I just ran FF vs IE6 the other day. Startup memory allocation is about the same. FF was a bit more. Didn't notice any leaks. I did notice FF and IE6 both use a butt load of memory. > 70MB. Didn't notice that before.

I also noticed, after being 'challenged' about how multi tabbed browsing (FF) was so 'superior' to IE6's one pane per page method that FF's memory increased for each tab about the same amount IE used for each new instance...I still prefer keeping my 'tabs' on my taskbar...To each his own!

Searching right from ur browser
using dictionary from browser
encyclopedia search
Ad-blocking
Download manager that can save session and restart from the same point
Opening another browser( IE from ff. IE and FF from Opera)
Changing layout of tabs
Session saving on crash
Personal side notes
Up and down button
And still there are more esp in opera.

Basically i am comparing with IE 6( i used IE 7 only few days)

The problem is that sometimes FF does not realease the memory that is assigned to it. Try running that experiment for a whole session of web browsing going to each page with both browsers. Then close the tabs/windows one at a time and look at the difference in memory that each browser retains.

OK here is my test documented in an excel graph. It is pretty typical of my experience with IE6 and FF1.5.

a big one is you can update Windows without needing a plugin..
plus I like the look of IE7 now that I'm used to it and it's the way Vista is gonna be, so might as well get used to it.
Plus I never crash with IE and ff was such a pain I finally just uninstalled it. now that IE7 has tabs there's absolutely no reason to use ff.
and one more thing, people using ff always have problems seeing things on here. I never have that problem with IE
of course I just cursed it and it's probably gonna crash and freak out any second now. thanks..

The single most imp reason is security but please don,t ask me the more details about it.

BTW, I did not get any big troubles with firefox except for crashes with last version but new version is free of this bug now, also never got memory leak problem.
I am trying Opera now and to me it is even better than FF- really smart and fast.

Great work with the graph. I was almost tempted to post 'I'm not going to bother with a full and scientific test, because I prefer my old school ways' but you tested for us. I use IE6 in the full screen mode with a disappearing task bar so I have the benefits of 'tabs' without taking up space in the main window. I have the added benefit of having 'tabs' for Note Pad or Word or Windows Explorer or anything else I care to have open and use while I'm browsing the interweb.
