FX7: WoW patching problems...

Anyone ever run into WoW patch problems with their FX7's?

For some reason I decided to start playing again... The CD's install fine, but when it tries to patch it errors out... something about not being able to patch a file because its checksum is wrong...

I've done everthing... chkdsk is clean, drive is defragged, I Prime95'd this machine for 24hrs when I first got it with no problems, etc.... This is the only game i'm having trouble with.

Any help out there?

Alot of people have been having issues with that new update. I think they tell you to load it up in safe mode. There are a few workarounds posted on the wow forums.

Yeah, I installed the game in safe mode and tried to patch.... still no go. Works fine on my intel box tho...

I ran into this exact same issue with my FX7 when I tried to install WoW for the first time. A couple things you can try:

1) In addition to downloading the full 1.10 patch, also download the 1.8 patch, and all the incremental patches up to that point. Run the 1.8 patch, then run the incremental patches until it breaks again. Then run the full 1.10 patch and see if it gets through or not.
2) If you have another PC that has WoW installed and up to date, just do a copy of the whole WoW directory and drop it on your FX7. Make sure that you've installed WoW on your FX7 first!

I fiddled around with it for a good 4 hours when I got my FX7 before I finally got it working. Good luck to you!

Ugh. I won't have the intel back until this weekend (my son's machine). Now I gotta go dig up the older patches.

Nothing as of yet... It's been several days. The last post from "EvanM" asked for specific logs which I handed over to them.

I'm not very hopeful.

My knee-jerk reaction is that this has something to do with VIA in some way. As a test, i'm installing to a network drive to see what happens.

I had no problems here.

Shepoch, are you using RAID by chance? or are you using the VIA bus master drivers if using non-raid? I assume you're on an FX7...

I'm using RAID 0. Everything is as boomheadshot45 said, what else would you like to know? I also downloaded the full patch from Filefront using FreeDownloadManager.
