Clevo M570U Review (aka XtremeCTX/Sager 5720 Dual Core)

Just saw this review post about the upcoming Clevo M570U!
The reviewer used the Rockdirect.com XtremeCTX which is just the rebranded name for the Clevo M570U.
Some may know this notebook as the 32bit Dual Core version of the Sager 5720

You can view the review here:

I so can't wait for this baby to get released so I can finally buy my very 1st laptop

Any rumors about M570U with GF7900GTX ? It would be a great solution, the only disadvanatge of M570U is ATI X1800XT instead 7900GTX..

According to Rockdirect.com and Eurocom.ca the M570U has the option of ATI X1800XT or Nvidia go7800GTX.

thats a nice review, thanks . Also isn't this laptop going to be around 3.8 grand, it said 1,900 pounds so....... This will be a sweet laptop! But that would be cool if there was a 7900 gtx in it

I'd rather it have the x1900 personally. The ATi GPU's are currently winning the graphics card races. But either card offered (x1800 or 7800GTX) would be a kick ass card that'd perform beautifully.

I already did a price comparison with the XtremeCT (M570A) vs the XtremeCTX (M570U).
It only looks like around ~$200-300 price difference.
Even the Reps from Rockdirect already stated in their forums that they only place the price for the M570U just a couple hundred dollars more as the M570A and the M570U are practically the same except for a few parts.
I expect other resellers to be doing the same.

Hence I am anxiously awaiting for the release of the M570U

Looks good. Just wish I knew how well it performs w/ multi-tasking in relation to the two CPUs that I use daily- the P4 3.4ghz Northwood and a P-M 2.13ghz.

Hmmm...

It looks like RockDirect is offering the Go7900GTX 256MB as an option now:

I debated on buying from them as their 1st batch of shipments are scheduled around 2nd-3rd week of May.
So according to their site it should be 95GBP for International sales.
I contacted 1 of their sales rep and they told me it should cost me 150GBP for a shipment to NY USA.

150GBP = $267.253 USD

But I also just contacted PCTorque and they stated that Sager is planning a partnership with SmoothScreations sometime in a couple of weeks.
So by soemtime in May they should have plan to work together
But at this time, no US Reseller has a definite ETA for the M570U

I wonder how's the noise and battery compared to the new XPS from Dell.

Also how does the VTA work when you live in another country, are you supposed to declare it yourself?

This CTX is really priced reasonably. Fully configured it comes around $2500....Much less tan the competition!
In the CTX website, it only offers up to 2GB ram.
The new CoreDuo Dells, Toshibas come with up to 4GB ram.
Will the new Sager have a 2 or 4 GB limit?

According to the Eurocom site, it has the Specs of the M570U as 2GB MAx.
But I could have sworn I saw a post by a Rock Rep that you can have upto 4gb in a XTC.
Don't quote me on that as I am still trying to dig for the specific post.
I could have easily misread soemthing else

I just received an email from Pro-star.com that they expect to ahve the Clevo M570U on the 3rd week of May!
Someone else told me that ISTNC.com is suppose to have some Clevo M570U on the 3rd week of May as well.
Hopefully PCTorque will be able to have some around the same time as well

Thing is that Clevo site mentions only 2GB ram:-(

How do all the other companies offer 4GB (Dell, FujitsuSiemens, Toshiba)?

I just noticed in the Eurocom Config page for the M570U:
http://www.eurocom.ca/newsroom/press...ess.cfm?id=152

There is an option to get 4gb RAM ...
