Placed the order for my first ever laptop computer on Saturday.

Here's the setup:

Pentium M 760 (2.0 GHz)
256MB NVidia GeForce Go 6800
17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200
Intel 915PM + ICH6 Chipset
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 b/g Wireless Card
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 533MHz
80GB SATA with NCQ
24x10x24 CD-RW / 8X DVD Combo w/Software MPEG2 Decoder

And here I will update the process as it makes it through the phases as indicated on the website:

Phase 1: 15-April-2006
Phase 2: 17-April-2006
Phase 3: 19-April-2006
Phase 4: 19-April-2006
Phase 5: 20-April-2006
Phase 6: 20-April-2006
Phase 7: 20-April-2006
Phase 8: 20-April-2006
Phase 9: 20-April-2006
Phase 10: 20-April-2006

Expected delivery 22-April-2006.

Welcome to the forum , and welcome to the phase game , and welcome to AW !!!! Be patient with the phases : the reward will be delivered to your house before you know it .... and well worth it ....

yeah, be patient, if it is taking a long time, just be cool and calm. Kickass laptop you got there, i want a 5700 now!

I'm definitely not in a rush to get it. I do have a LAN party coming up but if it doesn't make it here by then I'll live.

I struggled with the decision between the 5500 and 5700. Now that the deed is done my wife will just have to live with it. Such is the case with a lot of my toy purchases.

Sounds like you have the most important thing beat already...patience.
I am waiting for my first AW purchase to arrive Thursday, so I am just
recently done with the phase game myself, and playing the fedex tracking game (not as exciting, fewer updates to look forward to). They even got within a week of the estimated ship date from when I placed my order!
May your phases pass quickly and uneventfully like mine did!

I had to make the same decision two weeks ago. I took the m5500 with the new x1600, reasons: portability/videocard switch etc. I'm sure you will have plenty of fun with your new system

Be patient and enjoy the phase game

I'd have to agree with jc, because patience is the hardest part about the AW experience. I wont go into my phase game as this is your post, but I hope you have a speedy delivery. One note from my own experience: I ordered the same vid card on my 7700 notebook back in 3/13/06 and it was out of stock back then (as of this post-its still on back order)if anything will delay your order, it will probably be the 6800 go video card. Good luck on the phase game, and as everyone has said It will be worth the wait! (and I'm still waiting lol)

Congrats on the system...and good on ya for having patience - that's the best way to play the phase game.

Updated original post with updated phases.

Ha! Typically patience is something of which I am in short supply. If I needed the machine right now I'd be going nuts!

Final update!

When you ordered what was the expected ship date? In other words, did it ship earlier or later than expected?

I ordered on April 16th and the expected ship date is next Monday the 24th. Currently sitting in Phase Five for the second full day.

Cheers,
Elliott

If your going by the phase status on the website, it's not very accurate elliott, Ive been on phase five two days in a row and after I called them earlier today They told me it was in Phase 6. The phase page gets updated very slowly so Ive learned not to count on the phase page as gospel. If you call you will most likely be at a different phase and thats always good, given its moving forward that is

The expected ship date was the 25th so it shipped earlier than anticipated. I placed the order on the night of the 15th so it will be exactly one week. My phases updated quite often.

That's great news that your laptop shipped earlier than expected. I went ahead and called AW this morning just to confirm that I'm really still in Phase 5, and yes I am. Though maybe they're just looking at the same screen that I see online.

Nothing has moved today, so I'm thinking that it probably won't ship out on Monday. Interestingly, their website has now changed the ship time on the 5700's from 7 days to 10 days. Patience....

You are getting a 5700 right? Be sure to post photos and a review! I can live vicariously through your system until mine shows up

Cheers,
Elliott
