t60p Dock - DVI

I'm considering getting a t60p for many reasons, but I must be able to use DVI to drive my 23'' LCD at 1920x1200. From what I read, the Advanced Mini-Dock should do it. How well does it work? Any gotchas? Can I just plug in and plug out?

Yep, you can just plug in plug out for using the dock's dvi connector. Works very good. I have only heard of a few "flickering" problems, but that happened to be bad hardware and was fixed by Lenovo.

I guess one more question. If I run the external LCD at 1920x1200 and the internal LCD at its rated res (14 or 15 - not decided yet, but leaning towards 14), how well does XP/the dock/ThinkPad handle the res changes?

I called Lenovo tech support about this as I was wondering the same thing and they said I can only get the same resolution on an external monitor through DVI as the native resolution of the laptop. Was the tech support guy wrong?

Will the max. resolution depend at all on the video card? Do I need to get a T60p with a FireGL 5200 256MB or will X1400 128MB support external 1920x1200 just fine?

Also, if I get a third-party firewire card for the T60 (sucks that T60 doesn't have firewire built-in), will I still be able to access the firewire port while the notebook is connected to the dock?
