I was looking at Go-l computer then I found the p25.

1. can the video be upgrade to a fx 5600 or something?
2. what the fastest hard disk does it come with?
3. I found a place that sells Pc2700 but what about a place that sells Pc3200 memory? Will it support it?

Thanks

Hi,

Definately buy the P25-S607 or 609. You can probably get the 607 for under $2000.00 where as the 609 will run you about $2600.00. There are subtle differences, but for the money the 607 is a keeper!

Your questions:
1. NO. However the 5200 was the first and remains dedicated to DX 9! There can always be better GPU cards,but Toshiba did not go with anthing else and upon upgrading they kept the 5200. That says something!

2. The Hard Drives come as follows: 607 has a 60 @ 5400. The 609 has an 80 @ 5400.

3. There has been some talk about the RAM. As I understand it, the higher spec'de RAM will work. I would check with the RAM supplier when you are ready to purchase the upgrade. But you may not need to buy an increase as the 607 comes with 512 and the 609 comes with 1 GIG.

I have the 607 and bought the RAM boost to 1 GIG immediately after purchase. The 60 GIG HD is plenty big enough and everythig else is the same. I LOVE it and have never looked back! I use it for home and business and game play. I play the Rainbow series, Neverwinter Nights, Command and Conquer Generals with not a single glitch. Check the spec's at Toshiba's site. I highly recommend either one! Good Luck!

No name, I would say wait a month or two if you can as Toshiba is about to revamp their line unless you see a special deal and you are ok with it.

@seidel

"No. However the 5200 was the first and remains... That says something!" - yes, it says Toshiba needs to upgrade their line. The 5200 should play most of the games out there fine as long as they don't use a lot of DX 9 stuff, ironically what it was "dedicated for." It will be slow and pretty much impossible to play Half life 2 unless you want a slideshow.

If super-duper fast graphics is not a requirement and you just want to make sure you can run what's out there today then it's allright.

Raist3d, Well, I want a 128mb NV card or ATI but Nv card is what I am pushing at and Well I do ALOT of video editing with Combustion 3.0 and Adobe Premiere PRO I am somewhat happy. I am runing a 1.7ghz 1024mb PC2100 I want a 3.0HT and a Nv card with 120mb ram. I think that will be a big jump. a 7200RPM HD would be nice too. but I don't like the month waiting times for someone to buid me one...know what I mean.

Thanks for the info
