Anyone know of any non-OEM extended warranties?

Thread Starter
Hi all, I'm trying to decide if I am going to purchase an extended warranty from the manufacturer, but am wondering if anyone knows of any 3rd party / non-OEM companies that sell extended warranties on laptops. I've seen the question asked a few times on these boards, but have never seen an answer.

If there are any out there, I'd like to do a cost comparison to see if it's more economical than buying one from the manufacturer.

Thanks!
Ron

I heard you could go through your home-owners/Renters Insurance and have a waiver added to it that would cover most damage.

Warrentech, Repair masters and Florida Bankers do extended warranties but I think they only sell it via the store who sold you the unit.

I know that Mack sucks for digital cameras, so I guess it's the same with notebooks.

Most financially-wise people recommend not buying an extended warranty unless you really need it, and even then only from the manufacturer. Don't let the price fool you. Better no support than being out of money and with bad support.

And sometimes you will find that you can find a better deal by simply buying a superior/business model that comes with the warranty included.
