When ordering new dell 9400 (TrueLife), what are the chances to get it with dead pixels?
(Or:is Dell quality control is good?)

i have had three xps m170s and none have had dead pixels!

Your chances should be pretty low. And if not, I see no reason why dell wouldn't replace it.

if you only get one dead pixel it is highly doubtful dell will replace it..you have to tell them that the light leakage or something else is unacceptable or just say something to where you aren't satisfied, etc
it is doubtful you will have dead pixels though...that hasn't been an issue. Light leakage is probable though!

My new D820 seems to have a little light leakage at the bottom of the screen. There are no apparent pixel defects.

You'd be surprised what you can get Dell to do if you handle the situation right.

I do have a dead pixel, but it almost all the way to the left of the screen and isnt noticeable at all. So, I am in no big hurry to return it.

Actually I believe that partially dead pixels are a lot more common than people think. Many of us may have one or more but considering WUXGA contains 2,304,000 pixels finding the bad one can be tough. They are sometimes only noticable with certain colors. Try cycling your screen (with an empty desktop) through red, gree, blue, black, and white scanning the screen with a magnifying glass - you may be in for a suprise.

If you get a notebook with a bum pixel that is noticable then have DELL send you an LCD so you can do the swap yourself.

What about light leakage?
there are many reports on that is dell has a problem with its screens? or all manufacturers have the same problem?
