Dell Discounts

Thread Starter
Received my D820 today. I ordered it 2 weeks ago with the $180 discount. The same machine ordered today still has the same price but with a $400 discount.

Called Dell and they will not credit me the difference. I must return this one and order a new one to get the 'new' discount.

Is this standard operating procedure for Dell? Seems like a sure way to lose money and annoy customers.

just argue with them...you will eventually get what you want...or threaten to return it

definately threaten to return it, they will eventually work with you.

evaentually, they can be tough little buggers.

They don't have a price guarantee like Best Buy or Circuit City. You can either
1) just call and tell them you want to return it, but don't mention the price issue. Tell them there's something with it that you're not satisfied with. That way they'll likely offer you some money to keep it or if they don't, you'll be able to return it without the restocking charge probably.

or

2) call and tell them about the price thing again and tell them you'll return it if you have to. Explain that they'll both lose money that way. They may make a deal with you. Worst case scenario, you send it back and pay the restocking fee.
