I have a question or two.
Here goes...

This lappie comes with 1 gig DDR2 ram, 2x100 gig drives, intel core duo 1.6 ghz, and a Geforce GO 7400-512 Meg

Anyways, my question is, am I able to upgrade my card to the 7800 GTX?

And furthermore, if i cannot, how can i improve my benchmark score? Its currently a bit shy of 2000. Im new to this laptop stuff, so I appreciate the help. Thanks.

anyone?

Anyone have help to offer? I wanna tweak this lappie to run like a raped date. lol.
Its got the power, but it still runs kinda sluggish. Kinda confused...

I already went through and uninstalled all the garbage it comes bundled with.
I wanna just wipe it clean and put a different os on it, but its got all this stuff for use with winxpMCE, like it can act like a tivo and whatnot, and I like that idea, so i gotta just kinda tweak it all instead. HELP!

the go's can be bought from dell, and from a lot of the guys over @ the dell forum. [try the 17 inch section]
they cost anywhere from 300-500 dollars USD

@ orignial poster. the card isnt actually "512 mb", i think it actually only has 256mb dedicated ram. the second half of its ram is coming from the system. therefore, you only have 786mb of ram available. try disabling the turbocache in the bios

I returned it..

I actually returned the laptop. For as much money as I spent on the thing, (2200.00, including an accidental damage replacement policy, wireless router and bag...)it had pretty weak specs as far as graphics went. Wasnt really what I was looking for. I also kind of wanted a Pentium M, not a core duo. As it turns out, yes, the card is only 256 dedicated. Furthermore, its integrated into the mainboard. So i can't swap it out at all, even tho the laptop has a pci-e slot. And finally, if anyone intends to do serious gaming, stay away from that card. Its not good at all. I mean, if you want to play some stuff on medium settings, then its fine. But for people like me who didnt know any better and wanted a laptop capable of some good gaming, stray from anything with that card. (Only hp's have it, so that shouldnt be a problem.)
Other than that, the laptop wasnt a bad gig. Came with a tuner and all.

I think I am going to snag one of those SLI laptops. Cant go wrong with 2 7800 go gtx cards...

Or maybe just a dell E1705, not sure yet. But thanks for all the help guys.

Mine actually was 256 megs. Once I discovered that SLI capable notebooks are being made now, that thing went back fast. Hahaha!
