Hinge repair after warranty?

Hey guys, just wondering if Gateway will fix my hinge even if my warranty has expired. It expired in February and the only reason I didn't send it in was because I couldn't afford sending it out for too long. I'm selling my 7422GX and the only thing wrong with it is the cracked hinge. Anyone have success in persuading after warranty repair. Let me know what you said and any advice.

Anyone here interested? $800 + shipping. Upgraded to 1GB PC3200 DDR400 RAM and a 60GB Hitachi 7K60 7,200RPM Hard drive. This thing screams but I bought a 8210GZ. I'm sure you all know the specs on it but here they are:

Thanks

I have seen a ton of them on ebay but alas they are all used...all pulled from machines experiencing the same phenomenon we are. Loose hinges. It would be nice if you could just order them from Arima.

Just talked to gateway live chat and they are repairing my cracked hinge free of charge. Atleast they take responsibility for the defect. For whoever still has this problem, send them a line and get it fixed for free.

Gateway Laptop Cracked Hinge repair

I talked with them on line...they said same thing: would repair free of charge....they sent me a shipping box and label...I shipped it on a Monday and it arrived via Fed-Ex at my home the following Monday....that's right one week to the day...turn around. Nice repair and NO charge. This seems to be a problem with EVERY laptop of EVERY make and EVERY model...just cruising THIS forum bears that out. At least Gateway is repairing. My 7320 is waaaaaaaay out of warranty and they ate it anyway.
