I understand that the GTX will require mods (breaking off a small plastic air barrier). I don't know if the bios will natively support it or not... the 7900GS will fit sans mods of any kind, and yes for 3d it will be a HUGE leap from an x1400.

If someone actually....

Puts a 7900GTX in an E1705 and posts pics and instructions on how to make the 'mod' to the 7900GTX and runs it successfully, then I will also consider the 7900GTX over the 7900GS......I am not a huge gamer (well, I am 6'5" / 210lbs so in regards to that..hehehe), but I just like 'knowing' I can run BF2, FREAR, etc. etc. and not have any holdbacks with regards to AA, resolution, etc..

This should not concern users who own 7800 Go cards because the improvement will be be marginal. I would find it hard to believe if anyone could tell the two apart playing a game with normal settings.

any update about the 7900 GS included on the e1705, i want to buy another one, but i don't know if i must wait, (just a week or two) of get it with the 7800 GO, right now...

Since Dell is currently in end of quarter mode, I doubt will see the card this week. It'll show up this month some time.

however the 7900 GTX is a different story.
Is a jump from 4K in 3Dmark05 to 6.2K marginal improvement? If you check out the Znet-test of the toshiba with the 7900GS, it actually performs equal to the 7800GTX go in games, and a tad slower in 3Dmark! Only thing that can screw this up is dell screwing the 7900GS up like they did with the 7800go (huge underclock).

Woohoo! Now cant wait till we can order the 7900 Gs! Anyone want to buy an X1400? Wonder how much more time will we need before we can order them. Now for the main question how am I going to convince the wife I need a new VC when I just ordered this laptop a month and a half ago.

Ugh... I just got my notebook! Grrrr....

Im tempted to return mine but... If they dont have the dell coupons when the 7900 comes out, I wont be able to afford one. Im pretty poor... My budget was ~$1,350 for this notebook :/

Any updates on 7900GS Part no...

I have exhausted my efforts with calling Dell sales reps, spare parts, etc. etc. trying to get a part number and my efforts have been fruitless....was even told that it would not work with a E1705 even though we all know it will...

The 7900 GS is mentioned as an option in the online E1705 manual.
