I have been wonderin if we could buy the m1710's chassis and install it on our e1705s. I believe they use the same chassis design and etc.

(and i don't mean no bloody light thingies)

Will the price you get be cheaper than if we buy it directly from Dell spare parts??? If so, by how much (roughly)???

If you look at the picture above, you can see the M1710 has a docking port, which the e1705 doesn't have.

that's true, but hopefully you won't need to replace that. The bottom part should be ths same between them all. With the exception of the docking port. so just replace the lid pieces and the palm rest and that should be it

i don't believe you need to replace the bottom of the laptop since it is bottom

i am more concerned about the upper chassis, even tho many won't agree with me I LUV the black design on the xps g2 (m170), i think 1710 looks gay the black design was much much better

so yea i could also go for the M90 look

so anyone can give me any information regarding to M90 chasssis thingies so i can go ahead and buy them from dell spare part (if they have it)

Dell only sells the "chassis" (lower half of the laptop below the palmrest) with the case and motherboard together. Just like in the 9300/m170 series, there is one part number that includes both pieces. But this isn't a bad thing since getting both gives you the D/Dock connector. =)
