I'm working on a quote. Please post yours here and we can compare. My original quote was with a GS video card, so I've removed it. Last year we did this with XPS gen2 and got a great deal.

I've been offered this system for 1999 GBP. Note only 1gb, but upgrading is cheaper when not using Dell. There is an extra battery included. PM me if you want details of how to get it.

Perhaps it's worth asking for the 1Gb as a single DIMM only...then you can upgrade to 2Gb more easily. I think they may be able to do things like that if you ask over the phone.

hmm on this one i can't even configure 4gb of ram although why you would want that much atm is beyond me.

Graphics card really does look impressive!

JimBob,

Thanks for the quote. I've tried getting a similar one online and it went to 2033GBP. My original XPS Gen 2 was purchased for around 1770 GBP while they had been asking around 2300 GBP, a saving of almost 600 pounds. Do you reckon we could drive the price down by pushing?

Cheers--Alex

Phone up and negotiate. I got about £350 off the online price.

Warrior kid, yeah I remember you from last year. That is exactly what I am driving for here. Our rep got tons of sales after giving that guy Mike something a good quote

I did. So far I got 100 off. Post your spec and pm people the name of your salesperson so we can contact them. This is what we did last year and saved an absolute bundle.

I got £150 off last summer by ringing them up and asking if there was a student discount available. They said I could either have the discount, or have an XPS backpack. Since I didn't want to advertise the fact that I sometimes carry an extremely expensive laptop about, I went for the discount.

Bl**dy hell that new machine is cheap; I've just been on the Dell UK website to spec one up and it's incredible! When the XPS2 was launched last year it was about £2200 for a basic model with 512mb of RAM! Now you can have a really decent with 1gb RAM, 2ghz CPU and 7900GTX for only £1500!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeh I reckon she'll go further but I can't be bothered with overclocking atm, it runs COD2 and FEAR pretty good at 1600x1200 with AA & AF.

But as someone who multitasks all the time with their machine Core Duo would be really handy.

There seems to be 200GBP off today, so I guess the quote I gave yesterday will be approx 1800-1850 now

Ordered this tonight for 1950 GBP

Gently persuaded the Sales Associate to gimme 2GB RAM (2x1024) (he consulted his manager) instead of 1GB. Didn't push for more LOL.

Got sucked in by the pointless 2.16Ghz CPU !

Upgrading my I9100 (the hot, noisy suitcase that warms my room).

If you're buying in the UK from the online site, check this site out:

http://www.quidco.co.uk

I've only used it to buy a TV but it's worth looking into as you should be able to get 4.5% cashback.
