Hi
I personally haven't purchased from Dell before and am a bit miffed that I just missed the £200 off offer. How likely is it that they'll do something like that again soon?

Offers rotate all the time. One week or so it'll be free delivery, another time it'll be double memory, yet another money off etc. This one was good in the sense it had double memory and 200GBP off. If you need a decent quote PM me, and I can put you in touch with a rep who gave me a good quote

I've passed on the details of all who PMed me, so you should be contacted soon if not already.

Still deciding between the two machines. I think the M90 is more to my liking... A few more impressive benchmarks and I'm taking the plunge

Wow, nice deal - that's even cheaper than standard spec for the higher machine is.

So it seems phoning and haggling with reps is the best way to go?

My rep might still be able to do that, PM if you're interested.

I have a different rep from gdowsett, but he has been fantastic so far (I used his rep last year). I've been offered the same deal, except with the 7200 rpm drive.

I used JimBob's rep and he indeed has been superb. £1680 or thereabouts as I went for XP Pro rather than home. Finalising my order today and should get it the week after as there appears to be a delay on the memory.

BTW thanks for putting me on to your Rep JimBob - much appreciated!

Cheers,

Farvesh.

Concurred, thank you JimBob, maximum spec m1710 with the 3year NBD warrant AND 3 year CompleteCare Multicover insurance - pretty unbelieveable, 25% off the website price (£1800 vs. £2400),should be here in a week or two. I was going to wait for Merom, but at such a massive discount I just couldn't resist.

Fuzzmo, Chris,

Glad I could help. Actually, I should point out that I was introduced to the rep by one of the other posters on this thread, so I guess he should take all the credit!

I went for the M90 in the end as I love the look of it, plus the fx2500 seems to be pretty damn good too. Now the long wait begins............. I'll be checking the status page every 10 minutes in a few weeks!

what to do what to do...

wow! That's getting cheaper and cheaper. I really wanted to get the m1710 but I was torn between it and the 17" mackbook pro. Another £100 cheaper than the previously reported max spec m1710. Hmmmm

Zek, seems like you got the max spec one too. Did you order CompleteCare with it?

I think I will pm JimBob about it again. What's better guys, ordering on the weekend or during the week? Are sales calls outsourced to another country too?

Congrats to all who got it through JimBob's excellent hookup

damn...

Photoscubaman:

So basically you didnt have a laptop for 18 months???? that's crazy!!
No

I have had use of a laptop for the entire time

at one point i had a 9100 waiting for collection (8 months!) and 1 9300 (3 months)

i received the m1710 before the last 9300 went back

i think the longest i was with out a laptop was about a week
when the graphics card mother board and lcd was changed on the 9100

by a tech that had not ever seen one, funny enough it didnt work after that and then they upgraded me to a 9300.

that one the lcd over heated and almost caught fire

the replacement they sent was refurbished and also over heated
i caught them out as they promiced me a new one

but worked almost all of the time.

they then wanted to upgrade me to a 9400

but i wouldnt except that as the x1400 card is rubbish!!

suggested they upgraded me to m170 as its the same as the 9300 and had same graphics card

by the time i got back to the uk the m170 had been replaced by the m1710

and i accepted the offer of the m170 and they sent the m1710, wonder why i didnt accept earlier?

anyway i have had alot of hastle but i cant really fault dell for trying

you just need the right manger to talk too

besides if they look at my records it takes awhile to read, think that helps when i phone these days.

as i keep saying dont accept no and keep going

if any body needs advice pm me

No complete care, i cant see this getting stolen or me dropping it as its only really for around the house (i work on the computer) and occasional trips up north.

I was thinking about it though - i wonder if i can add it on to my order now?

I intend on keeping this for at least 18 -24 months as i doubt windows vista and 64 bit & dx 10 will establish itself till at least then.
