Word!

So true. The price difference between the two is phenomenal considering how similarly they perform.

I returned my M170 and picked up the M1710 for the Dual Core. I do a lot of MultiTasking and also play games. It seemed the M170 was slower than my original XPS/9100 with a P4 3.4Ghz in multitasking.

Same here. My multi tasking consists of many browser windows, email and maybe some winamp and RDP. Other than that, I never had slowdows or issues.

Can't agreed more. I received my M170 last Friday and I enjoyed it for the 6hrs that I had it. The computer locked up in the middle of GW and cannot get it working again. I went through Dell Hell technical support for three hours and couldn't resolve it. I asked for a exchange and they send me to the return department. The return department say they only can do a return and I have to contact the tech department to arrange a exchange. Not wanting to go through hell again, I returned the computer instead. It is sad I didn't keep such a good laptop because of their technical support. (Those who experienced it can sure relate, I hope.) Great notebook!

Why didn;t you go through the game to keep the price you got that one at, if you were so happy with it...
I know it is hell.. But it seemed it would have been worth the money.

I have always had good luck with the Dell support. Maybe you didnt give them enough of a chance maybe?

I can understand his frustration. Sometimes when you call, you are dead on and get helped without issue. Sometimes you are transfered around 40 billion times each time the person telling you before that you need the person they are transdfering you to now and vice versa. After about an hour or two you eventually get the issue resolved. But that is a long damn time.

Dell needs to revamp their system. They need a seperate number for home, business, EPP and corporate and stop bunching under one number where you have to press TONS of buttons to get someone.

Speaking of which, what the HELL is up with the new voice activated tech support option? I hate that crap!

You can't compare the M170 and the M1710. The M170 is more like the E1705. The dual core, the graphics card, the sound card, the MASSIVE amount of RAM. The M1710 is a powerhouse. The M170 is justifiably good as well.

Please tell me how the M170 even compares to the E1705. I also think these 2 systems are totally different.

Congrats on the M170.
