Asus z70va New High pitched noise

Thread Starter
I just started hearing a high pitch noise come from the bottom left side of my notebook and its pretty irratating. Its been happening for a while now. I read somewhere that the z71v had the same problem and that a bios update would help it. So I have two questions..

1) Did the bios update fix the problem for the z71v users? (does anyone know)
2) How do I go about updating the bios?

Also, I had to replace my old harddrive (by old I mean two months). Could this new harddrive be the problem?

Cheers.

1. yes
2. go to http://support.asus.com, choose your product, and download the latest BIOS. Then extract it and update using WinFlash

damn, already had the latest bios version. I emailed Rick from ISTNC and he told me that was common with the new hitachis. He said some people have noticed that it 'goes away' with usage. Anyone have a more practical solution then waiting for it to go away?

If you'd just bought your HD.. I say demand a refund and buy a Seagate Momentus instead. I had a Hitachi when I had a desktop.. that thing made all sorts of weird noises. Then I replaced it with a Seagate... it was a huge difference in that it was real quiet. So when I bought my notebook, I stuck with Seagate.

Haha! I was def expecting that... but I'm damn proud to be a Seagate fanboy.. I believe they make the best HDs. I've had Hitachi, Maxtor, and Western Digital before, in case anyone's wondering what my basis for comparison was.
