For now I'll use the Intel 3945. We'll see as the 11n stuff becomes available whether I'll change that. I don't really want to changeover to entirely Atheros gear (router and card in the lappy plus all home machines) which is what you have to do to get the top speeds out of that chipset (Atheros). So for now I'll try Intel and see how it goes. I'm hoping that Broadcom makes an Intensifi card for the lappy soon, which might push me to their products. We'll see.
Bear in mind that your internet connection, if that is your main traffic point, is likely to be far less bandwidth than even the Intel card, and thus having more bandwidth, a la Atheros, doesn't necessarily buy you additional speed. Connection reliability can be improved with a better range router, not just with a better range laptop card.
So there is a lot to it really.
