Need some suggestion... about Alienware Area51-M 7700

Hey guys,

I thought I ask you guys for some suggestions about my Alienware Area51-M 7700 which is no longer operational. I got this laptop last year around January '05 and my warranty on it has run out.

The problem is that I dropped it about 3 feet off the ground in which is landed on the backend of the laptop. It didnt completely die right away, In fact it took about a week or so before it just no longer power up anymore. I called in and it could possibly be a motherboard issue in which it will cost me over a thousand dollar to replace it.

Looking at my other options, should I sell it for scraps? Or is there an exchange program that Alienware might offer? I know there some loopholes with some of the credit campanies where they will replace it for me without any cost to me (like american express, but I didnt use it). You guys have any other ideas on what I can do?

Thanks a bunch in advance...

Thats too bad your warranty ran out! I went with 3 year on mine. You can try to buy a replacement mobo from AW for just parts cost, should not be 1,000$.. more like 200$ range, of course you will have to do the work yourself. I have never heard of an exchange program with AW, usually they are pretty good about out of warranty items and treat you the best they can, I would try calling back and explaining your situation over to get the outcome you want. Sorry none of this info really helps, I suppose if anythign it will bump the thread!

-Good Luck!
