Help with reformatting M170

Thread Starter
I am reinstalling Windows on my M170. When it asks which partition to install on, I choose the biggest one. It gives me a warning that there is already an OS installed on this partition, and that installing two OS's on the same partition is bad. What should I do here??

The existing OS will be wiped out as part of the formatting process. Just format that partition, then continue with your installation.

It may help you to have step-by-step instructions in front of you. There's a good guide here: http://www.notebookforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=167

also here:http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1778 for more info.

You might want to delete the other partitions, particularly if you have the Dell Diagnostics CD (the tests can be run right from that), and if you're going to use 3rd party back-ups like Norton Ghost.

Good luck!
