E1705 / Video Card....

I have a new E1705 (about 1 month old). 1.83Ghz Duel Core, 1GB RAM (667MHZ), ATI 1400. I have played COD2 online and Battlefront II without much problems...running at 800x600 for COD2 and 1024 x 768 for Battlefront II. Is upgrading the video card a possibilty / recommendation? I am not very computer savvy and taking apart a new laptop would be very stressful for me...could a local computer store do it? I also don't want to get into power issues or compatibility issues, but I would like to run COD2 at 1024 x 768 without any lagging..thanks!!

i have the same card as you with pretty much the same specs. it's possible for you to upgrade the card to the 7800go and it's speculated that you can also upgrade to the 7900gtx. the 7800 is supposed to go for around $300 (i think) and the 7900 gtx will supposedly cost $425. right now i wouldnt worry about it because unless you want to pay f.e.a.r. or all games at the highest settings you should be fine.

did you get an E1705 for $1056 with tax!?!??! I got a 1.84Ghz / 1GB 667Mhz RAM / upgrade screen / XP Media / 80GB Hard Drive / Bluetooth / Wireless / ATI 1400 - $1500 with tax.....

i just bought the 1705 for 1150(befrore tax).. see my sig.

config it to 2000.00 exact then use the 750 off 1999 and the 100.00 off 2000.00

1150 it is. and i had upgrades.

That free 1gb from dell, is it one stick or 2 sticks? I thought i saw that it was 2 but everytime i look for that against i cant find it

it was 2x512...they do that bacause of the Dual CHannel memory configuration.
