I don't think that's out yet, some guy just thought it was and I believed him at first. I just googled it and only about 80-some results (mostly uniformed threads). Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Well, I tried to go to the XPS support page and chat with a tech. They said they were going to send me out the DMD 3.0 DVD, which was what the invoice said. When I got it thou, it was the DMD 2.0 CD. So again, if anyone has an ISO of the DMD 3.0 DVD please let me know or post it.

Thanks....

Quite simply and if you look at why I started this thread I need to use XP Profesional for business reasons and I can not load DVD, audio stuff on to the C:\ drive. I use Media Direct to listen to MP3's and watch DVD's etc.

So I use it quite a bit.

Make the ISO from DVD with Power ISO or difrent program. Launch Winrar, make a few parts

Mediadirect3.0.rar (65mb)
Mediadirect3.0.01 (65mb)
Mediadirect3.0.02 (65mb)
Mediadirect3.0.03 (65mb)
Mediadirect3.0.04 (65mb)
....

or make one big zip or rar file

then go to http://up-file.com

and upload the file/files

That need a time when the file big is but please upload this
You are one chanse for me to get this soft. I living in Poland and Dell not shiping this DVD Disk to Europe

Can someone help me. My Media Direct 2.0 installs however, when I get to the screen where it says Administrator I click and then it says loggin in and then it goes back to saying saving information. It keeps doing that when I click and never really starts into the Media direct. Only stays on the Splash screen. If any of you can help or Private message me I would honestly appreciate it.

Hi there,

Could anyone please help me solve the following problem?
Let me, first of all, inform you that I actually step by step followed the instructions put on one of the threads of this forum in order to install MediaDirect 3 with Windows Vista. Indeed, it worked perfectly! But then something went wrong when I recently ran a wrong upgrade/patch for my Dell printer 924 that I downloaded from the Dell's website in order to make my printer work with Vista. In fact, the upgrade/patch messed up with MediaDirect 3 and removed it from Windows. Now, the MediaDiect 3 botton is still working if I press the MediaDirect button when my laptop is turned off but MediaDirect 3 is not working anymore in Windows! I mean MediaDirect 3 is not opening anymore if I press the MediaDirect button or if I click on the MediaDirect icon on my desktop when my laptop is turned on!
As a matter of fact, I tried a system restore but it didn't help! And when I also tried to re-install MediaDirect 3 for Windows by running 'DELLKIT.EXE' after exploring the MediaDirect 3 DVD and after opening the folder 'DELLKIT' inside, I got a message saying 'MediaDirect is already installed on your PC. Please click Esc to exit'!
Do you have any idea about how I eventually can repair it and make it work again when the system is turned on i.e. with Windows Vista?

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

peteriiino

N.B. Additional information on the printer upgrade/patch I mentioned above.

Did you do anything that would affect partitions?

You can boot directly onto the mediadirect CD. This will allow you to repartition your harddrive hence erase everything. However if you "edit" the bat files, you can read what it does. Mainly dellpart.exe which pulls in the ini files (1drive.ini or 2drive.ini) which you can edit as well (you have to do this from C: not A: -> the actual ramdrive, then run it from there, changing references from A: to C: within). This also does setupmd.exe and md3patch.exe which setup the button to activate the partition.

When in windows, you can use the md3util.exe /MD3DRIVE=X: (If my memory serves me) to mount the MEDIADIRECT partiton, copy taskmgr.exe to its system32 dir. And also see if you can figure out what is wrong assuming you know about hopw this windows subset boots.

Best Hoofhearted,

First of all, thanks a lot for your quick reply!
Could you further please elaborate with more details on what you just advised me in your previous post to undertake in order to solve the above mentioned problem as I'm not that familiar with technical terms when it goes to fixing software issues?

Thanks again!

Essentially what I am doing is not just running the batch files, but reading them first with the DOS edit that comes with the dos portion of the bootable media direct cd. If you follow the logic in them and understand what it does, you may be able to micromanage the whole process better. ie, just do the md3 pre stuff without reformatting your xp partition. There are other tools out there that will allow you to resize already done partitions. hiren 9.2 cd is one of them.

There are two part to the media direct install:
(1) boot the cd dos style and let it setup harddrive partitions, and write (maybe cmos eeprom) what the md button does.
(2) an "in windows" portion, which mounts the already setup md3 partition and put the files on it for running part of windows and an "express" version of the cyberlink media player.

This being said, hell, if you learn enough about how they set this up (there is a registry on the md3 partition) and go into there and edit some of the "Run" folder, you could potentially hack the md3 button to do your own bidding such as image the main move of you rented DVD to the HD. boot linux. just autoplay random mp3s without any interaction whatsoever.

Maybe if I get the time later on, I will do some of this in greater detail.
