i have a gateway mx6440 notebook with powerto go cd burning software. everytime i try to burn cd it gets to like 40% then says "burn failed" no one seems to be able to tell me whats wrong. gatewway or software manufacturer. i have reinstalled drive, drivers, enabled automatic burning, tried varios speeds and it all ends up stopping half way, i dont have other cd burning software on this comp which they told me might interfere. i have used various cd brands and have wasted them. it isnt my computer either as i went back returned it got the same comp brand new and its doing the same thing. can anyone help out i just want to make cds and i cant lol

1. do u have the latest patch from Power2Go installed?
2. is ur pagefile large enough? burning software uses swapping a lot
3. try burning at lower speed?

cheers ...

if u have more than 768mb ram and xp/sp2 - i personally recommend to let the system managing its own pagefile (system, advanced, performance options, advanced, virtual memory ...)

disk defrag works hand in hand with paging file.

power2go offers the advanced burn options, u might want to go there before burning and set the burning speed to lowest with buffer overrun on - "burn failed" message is 95% software!

cheers ...
