Card, Craphics, 512MB, M1710, G71

That's the description. The part numbers were completely pulled, they don't even have them in there with 1000$ prices anymore.

This is the detail on my order:

Order Group Quantity Item Description

1 1 CG054 Module,Card,Graphics,512MB,G71M1710

I think the part number is CG054. I got it for $265. I called the Dell spare parts and tried the part number listed here. She asked me for my service tag and I gave here my XPS M1710 tag. She then said the part number was incorrect and they would send me a replacement 512 mb video card for my M1710 for $265 + shipping + tax. I took it and ran. Can someone verify that this is the 7900gtx.
thats pretty weird 265? lol that is dirt cheap...less than half of what a desktop 7900gtx costs!
I wonder if those of us who have an original 7800 Go will be able to, down the road, complain about heat issues and get a free upgrade to the 7900GS or pay alittle extra and get the 7900GTX.

On phone with Spare Parts now. Seeing if I can get ahold of it with that Part Number. Been put on hold 3 times already.

Umm... she's letting me order it. But she said it's back under the old part number of YF227. She said that CG054 is a sub-part number to YF227.

Price is 265$... pulling the trigger right now.

Some social engineering is required. I danced around the "I have a 7800, it got really hot, Tech Dept told me it has problems, said the G71 was an upgrade, I didn't believe them, they showed me the BIOS and driver upgrades so the G71/7900 cards would work".

Your luck my vary. But she's authorizing payment right now.

291$ with tax and shipping.

May 17th Ship Date.

Once I get my confirmation e-mails I'll post more precise info. As soon as that thing ships I'm selling all my 9300/XPS/7800GTX stuff. I'll let it go cheap. =)

(Did I forget to mention I had a 7800 Rev2 card already? Crap... I should call her back.)

Andre... change the price. 265$ now. You want one?? LOL

Actually... I really recommend waiting until Folide or I receive the card. Make sure it's the right one and be absolutely sure we won't all be wasting 265$ on a card we can't use.

I couldn't find a service tag to give them. So she was like we don't have it.

Congrats JaxChris. I was very surprised when she told me the price, I had her verify the part description a few times to make sure it was real. I just hope that with the expected influx of orders they will not catch on and cancel ours also. It seems the key is to have a XPS M1710 service tag.

LOL... very true. I'd hate for a wave of party crashers to cancel all the orders and stop everyone from getting one. But I think people will be smart and let us be the guinea pigs. They don't want to possibly waste 265$ on a part that they may never be able to use or even be able to off-load on eBay.

Snooz, I gave them my 9400 Service Tag. Then I did the "Tech Support said it would work, it's a 7900 card, look at the 9400 BIOS/driver updates to support it" dance. I went on hold again. I did a lil rain dance on hold, and she came back and said it does work. *bows to dell tiki deity*

When I come home tonight I should have my Confirmation and Acceptance E-mails. Then it'll just be a matter of waiting until May 17th. I don't care what crap they give me - I'll do everything in my power to prevent that order from being cancelled. =)
I just tried and he said YF227 is a 1000 dollars....

I have one email but it is just the summary of the order. However, my DPA account has been debited already for the cost an my order status shows as In-Production.

Finally, I got a guy support person the other two were women and they were horrible. The guy heard my brief speech about getting off the phone with tech support and they said this would work.

Took down the two part numbers YF227 and CG054 and he came back and said they were the same card except the YF227 is 1000 dollars and the CG054 is 265. I told him I will take the cheaper one heheh. I made him confirm for me that it was a 7900 GTX 512MB for E1705 M1710 and he said that is correct. Ordered on my DPA account and he email me the Invoice.

I have a quesiton, it is people are putting the "512" mb 7900 GTX in the e1705/9400, and i was looking at the Nvidia website and it says "memory Interface = 256-bit" does that have anything to do with the card being 512 mb, and if not can someone exlpain what exactly the 512mb stands for. Sorry, im new... http://www.nvidia.com/page/go_7800gtx.html

YF227 is the main order number. Then the Sub-Part numbers under YF227 show up as CG054 & 11725. You need to mention both and give the lil run around in order to get it like I did. Folide has a m1710, so it was no issue for him.

Order is Confirmed and Accepted.

Now lets not start drawing huge attention to this until we know these cards are the real deal. I'd hate for these to be mismarked desktop cards because of idiots in the Spare Parts division.
