First AW

Hello everyone, ive been browsing these forums since abnout two weeks after i ordered my Alienware to see what i was getting myself into, i really had no idea it would take up to and over a month for Alienware to begin even putting together the machines, and until i read the stories on these forums, i was getting pretty upset, as it seemed like Alienware was just running me around in circles (I still have four unanswered Emails that i sent out two weeks ago).

Anyways, just curious if the ALX could take longer then the normal line of Alienware machine, i ordered mine on March 27th, and its still in phase three, which as anyone would imagine, is rather annoying. Stats below

Processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-60 with HyperTransport and Dual Core Technology
Operating System (Office software not included): Genuine Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Chassis: Alienware® ALX Full-Tower Case - Space Black
Chassis Upgrades: AlienIce™ 2.0 Video Cooling - Fusion Red
Thermal Management System: Alienware® ALX Active Liquid Cooling System
Power Supply: 850 Watt Alienware® Approved Turbo Cool SLI
Graphics Processor: Quad NVIDIA® SLI™ technology featuring four GeForce® 7900 GPUs
Video Optimizer: AlienAdrenaline: Video Performance Optimizer
Motherboard: Alienware® NVidia nForce™4 SLI™ X16 Motherboard
Memory: 4GB Low Latency DDR PC-3200 SDRAM at 400MHz - 4 x 1024MB
System Drive: High Performance - 250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7,200 RPM w/ NCQ & 8MB Cache
Primary CD ROM/DVD ROM: 16x Dual Layer DVD±R/W Drive
Removable Storage : Alienware® 28-in-1 Digital Media Reader / Writer

Another question i have is, at the time i ordered my machine, there was nothing on backorder, but about two weeks after i ordered it, the website claimed the memory would delay the order by seven days, so would anyone know if that would effect my order?

Other then that, im loving this site, lots of pictures, reviews, all that good information, etc, very glad i came across it.

yes the alx's do take longer.... thats a kickass alx ...may i ask how much that costs'

I am not like thread crapping but dx 10 will be out early 07 or late 06 once again i am not thread crapping i am just telling him this

That is one kick-ass rig, T2D!! I thought with ALX purchases one was given a contact with whom you could speak to directly with any questions about the machine that you had.

Yeah, i know about Vista and DX10, not too worried about it really, as long as i have something with a ton of processing power im happy, truth be told, ever since i started playing World of Warcraft i havent played many other PC games, Half-Life 2 and the mods i still mess around with, i might pick up F.E.A.R. and some other stuff now, but ill worry about the DX10 features in later years, when it may become more advanced.

Yeah, the customer service has been iffy, the best answer ive gotten is from a Douglas, who at the most told me it would go into production sometime this week, but the several emails ive sent before that were unanswered.

As far as price, it was 6800 with s&h.

it may be the case... i think aw is out of black cases so they are shipping them in.... when you ordered your alx did it say near the black case "this may delay your order?"

First I want to welcome you to the phase game, I recently have gone through it myself so I can feel your pain. My Area 51 7700 saw no activity for a month, and thanks to forums like this It realy helped knowing others had gone through the same thing. I know it's hard not to get down about the wait and I know what its like to check the phase screen over and over, It's a grueling process, but theres proof right here on the boards that there is an end in sight. Just hang in there, the wait will definetly be worth it! And that is quite a machine you got comming there! WOW!
As for customer service, I'd call them instead of e-mails. Everyone I've talked to has been great, and since the phase page isn't always accurate you may find it's further along then you think!
Good luck and enjoy your new PC when it comes!

Thanks for the kind words and everything, i appreciate it, and i know that when (if ever) it gets here, itll be amazing.

The only real problem is now i've been lied too, as three weaks ago the person i talked to on the phone said that at the latsest it would be put into production this week, as of their office closing tonight, that statement was false. So not only was the website estimate wrong, but now the support rep was wrong as well. I'm assuming itll be about 3 more weeks before i even see this thing hit phase 4, and that is far, far too long. Had i known it was going to take this long, i would have built my own, as at current i do not have my own machine.

Infact, i'm probobly going to give it another three days, use that time to look up parts and see how long it would take to get those parts delivered to me, and if i can do that within the week, i just might cancel the Alienware order. =/

TD2, u have to see that the parts in the ax line are extremely expensive, rare, and hard to come buy. as with most companies, certain problems arize creating delays. your system is water cooled, has a top of the line cpu, and 4 top of the line gpus. your motherboard is also a rare piece of equipment. give it a little time. pm the aw reps on this foruma dn they will most definietly expedite you order. belive me buying an alienware is one of the best moves you can make.

And to which of the AW Reps did you send a message? This seems kind of strange considering an ALX order especially.

sorry man, but i'm having a hard time believing you're not getting replies to an ALX order....

you might want to use a radiation suit when you turn that thing on....

After calling them today, i found out that the video cards would delayed, and was told that it should be going into production next week.

Kinda curious as to why i wasnt emailed about the delay but whatever.
