I just got done playing Bf2, and I touched my foot up against it. It burned!! I don't recall it ever getting that hot, does anyone else's get too hot to touch??

Yeah, if your laptop is getting that hot I recommend you get a Supra Notebook Cooler. It blows air up onto your laptop to help keep the air circulating throughout your laptop. Don't settle for the cheap plastic ones.

No, I have a cooler, and AS5 on both my CPU and GPU. My comp runs quite cool actually. It is the power brick I am talking about

Ok, seems like I may just not have noticed it before. Good to know!!

Yup, I got surprised by the temperature once when I put my CD wallet on top of it while playing a long session of Civ4. They were quite toasty when I got done.

It made me wonder if putting a fan in it similar to my 170W alienware brick wouldn't be a bad idea for Dell.

Hm...i have rev 04 power brick and it gets warm but never hot, even after 2-3 hours of bf2
post #10 of 20
Yeah I had a Rev 2 and it got too hot to touch. The power wire curled up and Dell recently sent me an 04 Rev and it just gets warm now!! Power wire to lappy is now soft and flexible too!

Mine gets pretty warm but not quite burning to touch I'd say.

Rev A00 here and never gets too hot to touch. Would only ever describe it as warm really...

Perhaps you should give Dell a call. Sounds like a bad brick, and it also sounds like a hazard.

I say that after my first thought which was to go find some nice heatsink for it, LOL!

ive had my notebook on for about 6hrs and my power brink is hot as hell..seems pretty normal on these big rigs.

It doesn't get as hot as my Xbox 360 Concrete Block, and yeah it's liteally 3 times the size of a Power Brick.

just reached out and touched mine ...its pretty hot

both my dell and my gateway brick got REALLY REALLY hot when charging. during normal use, it was warm, but when charging it gets so hot you can barely hold it.

Ok then back to my original suggestion, couple of simple memory heatsinks and some simple thermal tape ought to ease things somewhat no?

Your brick actually gets noticably hot?!?! Unless the sun is beating down on it or it's stuck in an small area with lil air volume around it it shouldn't become hot enough to notice. Mine sits on the desk behind the laptop and I've felt it from time to time and even after hours of gaming it's never gotten hot.

Under 110 volt, my brick stays reasonably warm. 220 volt and damn, it's hot.

That's why I use a transformer even tho I don't have to. I'm hoping it prolongs my brick's life.
