Dell E1705 Truelife Upgrade - Page 2

I want pictures TOO!!! Post some please.

I just got my NuShield too, but I removed the frame around the screen first, then the oversized Nushield fits like a charm. Used some tape to fasten the leftover too. The only difference so far, I have used it about 2 min, is that I can see my headphones on the reflection. But it looks nice, no streaks or other artifacts. I am going to play som BF2 and see if I get any better :- )

hifiking,

Post some pictures ASAP... I am also tired of looking @ a WXGA...

The only thing which bother's me is that you had to remove the frame. Is this the same front cover with the 8 screws. I had a DELL tech replace my LCD initially and it was a hassle for him. Do I absolutely need to remove the frame?

Thanks!

I will when I get time to, but to remove the frame is very easy, it's 8 screws and nothing more. If your dell tech had problems; thats not impressive. It looks just like any other truelife screen, it aint wisible exeptc for the reflection which looks just like the 1920x1200

Well, I need a dark room to avoid all the reflections, and I have one. But it looks better and feels better to play on. The installation was easy, it was cheap $28 inluding shipping to Norway, it looks good. The downside, it's very minor, is that if viewd from an angle I can se it's not perfectly flat in the corners because it is on the frame. But it doesn't distort the image and it isn't visible from the normal viewing angle. Money well spent.

Nushield is garbage, avoid it. I ordered it for my E1705 and it sucked. It doesn't look anywhere near as good as an actual truelife screen with this nushield junk. All it does is dim the contrast and make the screen reflective.

True life won't effect gaming performance. Its pretty much a preference between glossy screens and matte screens. I had the matte screen on the dell 9300 and it was a nice screen but I prefer the glossy (true life) screen i have on my 9400 mainly because of the increased resolution 1920x1200 vs the 1440x900 of the matte screen. I think i like the truelife better for dvds but gaming i really don't have a preference either way.

Basically, its a cheap upgrade for the glossly look ONLY $20. It just boils down to personal preferrence. The XGA does help because of the native resolution of 1440x900 because it puts less strain on your eyes.

Versus $300+ for the LCD upgrade...
