I was looking at the hard drive in my e1705 and as is well known 2.5" laptop SATA HD's use the same connectors as the 3.5 inchers. Obviously I'd need an external power supply to power the 3.5" hard drive, but has anyone tried a SATA Female-male cable and connected a 3.5 inch HD to their SATA equipped dell notebook? It would be sweet to hook up a 150gb 10,000rpm Raptor to my e1705. Would make a great "desktop" when I'm at home.
