For those with MBP problems.. did you get a replacement?

I'm just curious if any MBP owners out there have had trouble with their systems and how Apple addressed the problem.

I was worried about my MBP getting a relatively hot and called technical support. They told me to take it to a local Apple store to have it tested and, if necessary, send in for service. I think I read somewhere else that some people simply got replacements shipped out. Has anyone had similar experiences that they care to share?

Just for what it's worth, the Genius Bar people at my local Apple Store told me that it does indeed get alarmingly hot in a short amount of time (even with the fans working). Apple repaired it and sent it back to them and I was expecting to go pick it up and I got a call from another Genius Bar guy. He told me that it's still getting hot, so he's sending it straight back to Apple again with a more "detailed description" of the problem. I'm still waiting for it to be repaired. Going on 2 weeks without my system now... what do you guys think?

i've heard motherboards are getting replaced pretty readily in the MBPs, but it may have been overlooked for whatever reason. hopefully w/ the 2nd go it may get the new revision motherboard and things will be better.

When they say "logic board", are they talking about the motherboard?

I worked for Apple tech support last year, and they didnt ship any new units for this problem, they had a repair program which had ran in a few month timeframe, they repaired them for free.. And to let you know when they tell you to take it to an Apple store chances are you are out of your support period(not fun to tell people they are SOL after droping a few G's on a laptop) or they didnt feel like dealing with it. And all the techs use the kbase, they just get to see a few more articles than you. But hey at least Apple outsources support within the united states.

Interesting. I'm not out of my support period. It's been in for repair twice so far and I asked about a replacement. I guess the situation is being escalated and I'm supposed to hear back from someone soon. It's been over a week so far though... I wonder if they forgot about me?

Also it might be a very simple problem after all, considering all the recent news about the thermal compound overapplication.
