Driver without "background noise"

I have the LTN screen and at some point along the line...I updated drivers and managed to acquire the noise referenced on this forum.

So far I have noise with Cat 6.3, Cat 6.4 and Acer 6.3. Not a fan of the Omega's

I believe I did not have it with Cat 6.2 and am going to give that one a try again

I also noticed that the buzzing noise increased in volume when I loaded newer drivers.
Did you use the standard Catalyst 6.2 or did you mod them?
I was using the Omega Modded 6.2 Drivers.

"Noise" is graphic term in this case, I belive.
I use Acer 6.3 and I don't have it anymore... My only advice - reinstall the system... Or try if you can do something using restore points. I don't know how, but I have no noise with any driver after last system reinstallation...

That is strange...I mean congrats, I am just worried if any of the notebooks (also other brands) can have the noise in graphics. So did the noise just dissapear? Did you just reinstall the whole system??? I am glad for you though!!

I said before, that I have no noise with original driver. It was after system reinstallation. Couple of days ago I tried to install the newest Acer driver and surprise! I have no noise also... I mean, I had it before with this driver, so I think it's a matter of system reinstallation...

as in - you completely reinstalled the OS? Using the recovery discs?
Yeah, I used recovery DVD

That completely wipes your C drive? Is that correct?

And you said that the 6.1s had no noise as well?
Correct. But I'm not sure if downgrading to 6.1 is going to fix the problem if you'll not reinstall the OS.

Where could you get 6.1s from though? SO do you suggest just fully recover the disc or well, reinstall the driver and then fully recover? But that ipes out the 6.1s as well I guess...

From my recovery DVD. You can use your hidden partition as well, but I don't know what are factory default drivers for newer builds. I've done full reinstall, so I don't know if any system repair works in this case. And yes, full OS reinstallation requires partition format so it's going to wipe all the drivers

I'm still working to figure out how that problem could gone after system reinstallation and I think that it is related with GPU high quality acceleration in overlay mode. I can get that noise back when I turn HQ acceleration on in WMP overlay mode settings. Propably Omega drivers turn that acceleraton on in every mode and it looks like it stays on with every other driver installed later... Anyway, the problem is still there - dark colors are not displayed correctly in HQ overlay mode!

...how do you turn OFF high quality interlay mode???
There is a key in the registry probably...
But turning it off doesn't solve anything. It's still an issue, even if it's not so annoying then...

Also, it disappears when I log into WoW, and then reappears when I log off. Odd?

I would be interested what is the experience of other people with ATI X1600s in other brands of notebooks... do you think it is a general problem from X1600 or just ACER specific?
I know, I had the same before OS reinstallation. Did you try to restore your system to before Omega checkpoint? I suspect that Omega caused the problem... or maybe just exposed it...

It looks like X1600 problem to me, but who knows...

I used to have it without Omega ever installed with all the factory settings... so I do not think this is the way. Well, I am thinking of getting me the new HP nx9420 and it has ATI X1600 just with 256MB dedicated (no Hyper memory) so I am wondering if it is without this issue... I mean, some guy sent me pictures of his screen and it looks okay... by the way they are using LG/Philips glossy screens...yamiiii!!!!
