Losing Wireless Connection Having to Restart

Ok, I've been having this problem for a week now...didn't bother me at first but now it's getting old...When I leave my computer on for a few hours with AIM running with like an away message on, or I'm downloading things, I come back and see connection lost, the Intel icon still shows I have a connection though? I turn of WiFi using fn + f2 and turn it back on a few mins later which does not work, I even disable the icon and renable it. Nothing gets my connection back unless I restart. I've never had wireless before but I'm assuming this isn't normal. HELP!! thanks

Hello this is my first time posting, I only signed up today. I was searching the internet for a forum for computers and I found this one, so I decided to join up. I have the same problem with my new laptop. After I leave my computer for awhile and I go back to it and my wireless connection is lost, and I cant get it back until I restart the computer, and it is starting to drive me crazy. Hopefully someone will be able to tell us something to do it get it back without restarting all the time. Thanks

TJ, try turning off the Intel Proset utility and use the Windows Wireless Connection Interface. I've had much better luck using Windows to manage my connections.

is there a way to get rid of the Intel icon, while using the windows manager...i hate when i have a ton of icons down in my status bar

has it just started doing that? or has it been doing it since you had the laptop? it could be that your card doesnt accept signals that your router puts out

I don't know if it has always been like this because I use to have it set to go to standby when I closed the lid so it never stayed on internet programs...now that it doesn't shut off i've started to notice the problem...I don't like this windows manager though...it keeps saying acquring network..yet i'm sitting here online??

remove the intel stuff. crontrol panel, remove/add.

intel, and modify, click in the check box of intel, and make it an X, leave the wifi driver alone.

should work great.

What Mr. Rulz said. That's exactly what I did. Driver only no utility. I know there is a why to disable the utility, but since I don't have it installed, I couldn't tell you how.
