It is a problem unless you want the same library
post #5 of 26
works fine for me
2 ipods that use the same library are fine. you will have to manually delete songs if you dont want them on 1 ipod.

No problem ... and ummm almost forgot - Dont read ABF comments .... trust me its not worth it

i never bashed the ipod. the new ones are much better than the crap they have been prior (you know, think a year ago). that said though, there are other players available out there which are better, and which dont have the whole library deal to f-around with. for instance take the Archos Gmini402 and iRiver H320... just plug them in and either use WinMedia to manage libraries, or use it as an external hard drive to load (and unload) tunes your way. honestly, after living with drag and drop, i think ipod makes putting music on (and especially taking it off) more difficult than it has to be.

Apparently your opinion on what constitutes bashing is different than ours - especially when nearly everything you say about Apple products is said with a ring of mockery and negativity. Your posts concerning Apple are extremely tiresome.

you're just jelous because my mp3 player is better than yours
post #12 of 26
Have you tried the WinAmp plugin? I believe you can keep them segregated that way.

umm... no.
look, we all know you hate all things apple, so why dont you be a constructive member of this social network and go help people that you can actually help, instead of wasting time complaining about how bad ipods are. since this thread was started by someone that most likely already owns an ipod, you are not going to change HIS opinion of HIS ipod.

abf sucksss .... ehhh.... and i'll be studing in Chicago in 2 months
Iriver will never be better than Ipod becouse their products are too big, too heavy, too ugly, no click wheel etc. etc. Ipod > iriver (lowest end possible on the market) ....
Peace out homies

first of all you're a fanboy, second of all lets look at the iriver line. first of all the E10 was recently announced. Does this look huge to you? and with some size comes build quality. In the time I have had my one and only H320, my friends have gone through up to 3 iPods because they previous one broke. My natural question to them "if 2 already died in 1 year, why would you buy a 3rd?" these things can't take a punch. furthermore, apples reputation with weak batteries that MUST be replaced after a year, and for $90 too. now what the hell is that? To replace a battery in an iriver, you need about 5 minutes, a small screwdriver, and about $30-$50 for a new battery. now lets look at the figures. THEN (around 18 months ago): iPod g4 vs H320 (the comparison i had to make when buying a player) screen: grayscale vs 250,000+ colors (winner: irivier) size: ipod was a tad skinnier, although it was the same in other 2 dimentions picture viewer: ipod no, iriver yes (winner: iriver) video playback: ipod no, iriver yes (winner: iriver) FM radio: ipod w/accessory, iriver yes (winner: iriver) Battery ipod 12h, iriver 16h (winner: iriver) Microphone: ipod no, iriver yes (winner: irivier) line-in record : ipod w/ $20 accessory, iriver yes (winner: iriver) price: $300 for 20gb for both (tie) overall best bang for the buck then: iriver NOW (2006): video: both (winner ipod due to slightly better quality) pictures: both (tie) battery life: about even in music (tie) iriver 6h video vs ipod 2h (iriver) size: ipod wider, but smaller in other 2 directions (up to personal preff) price:ipod $300 for 30gb, iriver about $250 for 20gb (ipod better $/gb ratio) microphone: only iriver line-in: ipod still needs accessory FM radio: w/ accessory only so as you can see, ipods deffinatly getting better in terms of being better hardware players. the one thing that still bugs me is itunes though (or gtkpod for linux users). I really dont wanna have to use 3rd party software to manage music. Simple drag and drop is more than enough thank you very much. In fact, its the most efficient way to do music management because i can copy, move, and connect my player to friend's computers without the worry of getting all of my (or their) songs erased....ever. Furthermore i have 100% compatibility with all OSes available on the market (yes, even SkyOS). when it comes to the clickwheel, you love it or you hate it. personally i do prefer the buttons, and i find the ipod menus to be a bit long and i hate it how i have to go "back" 5 times to get from music to the root menu page. I also hate the lack of file tree organization. it does it itself, and thats cool, but i do prefer at least the OPTION of making a file tree.

First of all, "first of all" used twice in the same post doesn't make a lot of sense. Next, I don't believe that you've been appointed to decide for others what they do or do not love about the iPod, or anything else. Further, your opinions of Apple products have been stated so often in such a negative light, that continually repeating yourself is a worthless, pointless effort at NBF. And, since your opinions toward Apple are so well-known here at NBF, what's your point in continuing the constant negative remarks other than to bash, flame and attempt to rile folks who disagree with you? Finally, in conclusion, if you find Apple products to be so repulsive, don't buy them. @OP: sorry for the rant and hijack, but this "gent" needs to hear opinions about himself by people who happen to enjoy Apple products.

at least i have proved with solid fact in my previous post with real facts. otherwise you're just giving me BS. so me some numbers why i should believe your case? I never told people "buy iriver" i simply have shown that the ipod is not the best option.

that said, note i never said the clickwheel was better or worse than buttons, i simply said I prefer buttons. nor did i say anything else thats well...up to the personal call, rather than given fact

hows this, if ipods are so terrible, they wouldn't hold just under three-quarters of the market.

and how is this given fact?

You've proven nothing. You've simply continued blathering on with your personal opinions about Apple and its products - boring, pointless negativity for the sake of trolling as usual.
