I know I read some chat about this but could not find it. Is the m3200 limited to 1gb of ram? It seems to indicate this on AW's website, but seem to remeber reading some stuff here about 2gb's?

there used to be a thread about the m3200 slowing down when having 2gb installed......or maybe it was the 3400...

I knew it was something along those lines couldnt remember. Seems weird for a machine to not support 2gb these days...

This is a reply from Uniwill tech support on the 223EI0-based Sentias:

Q:Your model 223EI0 notebook sold as the Alienware m3200 is listed as having a maximum memory of 1 GB, although the system will hold two 1 GB modules, for a total of 2 GB. Will adding more memory either improve or degrade system performance? Why is 1 GB the listed maximum memory?

A:"Our spec sheets only show up to 1GB memory because that is as far as we have tested. Using a total of 2Gb memory is possible, but since there are many different brand memory modules out there, we do not know if it will improve or degrade the systems performance.

It was, in fact, the 223. My machine.
But in any case, I've not yet seen the new ones having any problems.

I have a very long post about this very question. One day because of ignorant posts about the subject I did my own tests using 2gigs of ram out of my 7700. 2gb actually loaded programs faster, but allows me to run so many more programs at the same time before slowing down the machine.

I just happened to run across the UK website for Alienware, and noticed that unlike the US website, they offer up to 2GB of memory when you configure your M3200 for purchase...

Cheers!
