What is the best 15" Windows laptop, regardless of price?

What's the best Windows laptop with an approximately 15" screen, regardless of price? I need the following requirements: under 6lbs, has DVI (either built-in, or through a dock), has a semi-decent video card (not on-board graphics).

I think a sony model.. it has a 7400 go, IDK about the rest. thats all I can think of...

Someone far more helpfull will be along soon.

Either a MacBook Pro, or an Asus v6va.

My guess goes to
Lenovo Thinkpad T60p
and
HP Compaq nw8440

I second about the T60p. The only bad thing about it is that I CAN'T AFFORD IT! (damn...).

Ibm hands down.

The Asus V6VA does not have DVI output from what I can tell. It doesn't appear to have a dock with DVI either.

Acer Travelmate 8204, hands down.

Macbook Pro.
It's light, has DVI, good graphics, and looks nice, good batter life and now running windows on it is a piece of cake.

Macbook Pro - any other laptop doesnt even come cloese to apple Apple all the way!!!!!!

I heard there were "issues" with Boot Camp, but I haven't tried it myself so I can't elaborate.

The macbook pro would be my pick if they had not underclocked the X1600 so much. I would say Acer 8204.

MacBook Pro or Thinkpad T60(p).

The MBP's X1600 is underclocked compared to other X1600s, but it's still much more then a 'semi-decent' card the OP is looking for (faster then X700, much faster then the low-end cards). The screen is rated at a bright 300nits.

The T60 can have the X1300 or X1400, low end but dedicated cards. The T60p has the FireGL v5200 based on the X1600. The Flexview screens for the T60 have awesome viewing angles. It's 6lb with the 6-cell battery, a bit heavier with the extended 9-cell that sticks out.

Edit: Didn't know HP released the nw8440, 15.4" high res screens with FireGL v5200 weighing 5.95lb. Add that to the list too.

Will when i get my macbookpro 17 incher i will be able to compare it with my ibm t43p for you and let you know. But i will be biased since i really love ibm and this is going to be my first apple (and im really looking foreward for it).

But seriously i would stay with either one. Dont compromise on quality. Everyone here gave excellent suggestions.

Oh and if you are going to go with the ibm than definitely get the 9 cell and a 6 cell. The 9 cell will stick out in back but will give you a little over 4 hours of actual use time. Personally i bought two 9 cells.

why are you people recommending crappy notebooks with X1400's? what is wrong with you, this guy wants the BEST notebook money can buy thats 15"

mac's are useless for money since you can get something 2x faster for half the price.

the 8204 is probably up there, does the MAC even have ABG wireless and a card reader? i dont see it in the tech specs on appls website.

OR if you dont mind smaller you can go with the W3J you can upgrade it to 2GB for not too much. and its no where near the rip off price of the mac

Because he wanted something with a "semi-decent video card." Therefore, he might not necessarily need an x1600, or might not be willing to pay the premium that it comes with.

The Acer 8204 is a viable option, and does outperform the Macbook, but it is a little more expensive, a good bit larger, and has a dimmer screen. For once, a mac is actually a decent deal.

Actually the price of macbook pro is ok. Take v6j for example. v6j is $1900 with ok stats. Then take macbook pro. $2000-$200 educational discount=$1800. Mac with its eduational discount is cheaper than v6j. Macbook pro has a x1600 graphic card while v6j has geforce 7400. Between those two laptop, I would buy macbook pro. So don't think mac is alot more expensive than window.
