I've got some news for everyone! (sorry, craig...cant contain myself!!!)

Well, as you all very well know, the past 4 or so months has been bleak for me, to say the least. The laptop started clicking and flickering, stuttering and whatnot, and eventually not turning on at all. so I had to send it to the depot. They "examined" it, and decided it was the video card that had been overheating (well why couldnt I have just been sent the part?!)

anyways, they send it back and it works for about 2 weeks. In that time period I had not installed ANYTHING that could be remotly graphic intense. Well, after 2 weeks it happens again. Flicker, virtual memory errors, and eventually not starting at all...So they send me a new card via mail. What, are they just going to keep sending me fautly cards untill they realize it wasnt the graphic card that was causing the problems?

So finally, that card comes, and WOOP it happens alll over again, only about 2 days after I got the card and reformatted. I just want to note here, they never had me reformat in the first place, so there was no way of telling if it was the GPU, CPU, RAM, or HDD's. So they had me send it in. About 4-5 weeks later, they send it back and tell me they replaced the motherboard.

A new mobo? yay!!! Surely this must work now, I thought to myself. (please, dont call me surely :P). Anyways, no where did I see any documentation of stress testing or there so called 200point test, but I figured they were smart and went through. Well, I figured wrong.

Once again, it came obvious that they did NOT test it prior or after installing the motherboard. The computer worked for about one week, and was working like it was brand new. Aside from having lost a few important documents that I had worked on in the 2 week time period that the computer was working, I had finally gotten back my beautiful ferrari of computers. Then, *click* *zzzzz* *shut off*. nnnNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOooo!!!!!!!

So I send it back AGAIN. They replace the mobo and video card AGAIN. I was assured by TS that it would be tested completly this time. What a load of crock. I get it back, and it does EVERYTHING that was wrong when I had sent it in, but not in a two or one week time period. It happened the SAME day I got it back!!!

So I was furious.

I told them I wanted some new hard drives. They agreed upon letting me see if that was the route of the problem. So I order them then and there, that same day I get the comp back. He confirms the order, and its a done deal. Well, I call back 6 days later to find out the status of my order, as I a) asked for a tracking number, and b) asked for an email when the order was processed and shipped; both of which are standard procedure. So I call him back, and he says "yes, the hard drives have been shipped and you should receive them within 10-15 business days, but I am unable at this time to give you the tracking numbers, as it has already been shipped." So I say kapuy, and am satisfied at that.

Well, a couple of weeks later, and no HDD's. What the eff?!? So I get on the horn with them, to get some TERRRRRIBLE news. He told me that the order was never even shipped. WHAT?!?!?!? WHO THE FU*K WAS I TALKING?!?!? Now I was pissed. No, not pissed, furious and insulted. I asked him WHY it wasnt shipped, and he told me there was a problem in the processing part of the dealeo, and the order was cancelled. I went off on him like salt on a peanut, let me tell you. Then, I was finally able to get on the phone with a supervisor (finally). Well, after getting my order reprocessed, making sure that it was clearly documented that I wanted the tracking number and process confirmation THE DAY IT HAPPENS, he complies with it all. But I wasnt satisfied at that. No, I wanted some friggin compensation for all the shit i had been put through the last few months. The only thing they offered me was 50 dollars in Amazon gift certificates. This did not even put a dent in all the money I had lost due to not having the high end mobile machine I needed to do my job, but I was satisfied that they gave me something.

Anyways, I get the confirmation and the tracking number. FINALLY, some hope in my future. 2 weeks later, the HDD's land on my doorway. I pop those babies in, and start the install process. Nothing. The computer did not recognize there being any hard drives. I tried everything. One hard drive at a time, both at the same time, etc etc etc. Nothing. Then I noticed a small crack in the side of the part of the hdd ribbon that connects to the mobo. I didnt think anything of it, but just in case I got on the phone with TS to confirm. They told me that a crak in the plastic would not cause the computer to not recognize the hdd's. Scepticle, I get on the forums here and ask my good buddies if that crack has any affect, and immediatly I am told YES YES YES!!! So, once again I am face f*cked by AW. I get on the phone, and have them send me the cables.

One week goes by. Two weeks. Three weeks. I did not even bother calling them but once or twice to confirm that it was on its way, because in all honesty I did not want to heard "well bazikly sur, i kanot elp you wiz dat" one more time...so I waited it out.

FINALLY! TODAY I GET HOME AND THERE THEY ARE!!!

I was SOOOO EXCITED, And SOOO hopefull, but I lacked any form of optimism what so ever. Well, I pop that baby in, and fire up my computer. :O It was letting me format! Wait, no! it was letting me install windows!!! WAIT! NO!!! ITS LETTING ME ON THE DESKTOP!!!

OMG OMG OMG OMG MGOM OMGO OGKMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOKMGOKMG!!!!!!!

ITS WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, It is FINALLY WORKING!!!!

I cannot tell you for how long, but I dont care. I just needed the satisfaction of seeing my baby take a breath.

So there you have it!

wow mrgoodwrench I admire your patience. If I was without a computer for the latter part of 4-5 months, let alone a GAMING computer that is predicated on being "tops" for a few months, I would be pissed! Man I am way too type A to deal with that drama!

I don't want to scare you but that's exactly what mine did. then it finally never would come on at all. it ended up being the mobo.

they were not helpful, and it took 4 months to finally get the real help i needed. needless to say, my computer is back on the fritz already.

f*ck alienware...this is rediculous. i had it working for about a week or two, and already its gone to shit. i hate this company....
tell them to send you a new one, at which time you will send them the old one back in the box......you are the customer and deserve to have a product that works as the manufacturer intended. as long as you have documentation and the names of the service reps who assisted you along the way, you have a legal basis to demand a fair service replacement.

you might google your state laws to see if they have a legislation on the books regarding "lemon" products.......i would refrain from going off on anybody, just be polite and persistant and hopefully they will resolve your situation in a like manner. but always motivate, dont count on them getting back to you, some companies have a "hush" policy that allows service people to stall customers, hoping that they will go away. you must pester them until they realise that you will either be satisfied or make it your mission to get what you want.

you might be having other issues that lay outside the realm of what alienware can help you with as well, brown out spikes, some device that you are plugging in, phone line or dsl short......who knows, but i suggest using protection devices to rule those out.

good luck

no you're not...one thread for all of your issue topics will suffice. I'm closing this one. Use your main 'help' topic thread.
