help! my notebook has been attacked!

By pop ups! Everything is super slow now. I'm using CHC and now it constantly stays at max 2.0ghz instead of the usualy 800mhz. I've ran spybot, ad aware, virus scanner, and nothing came up. This is the first time I ran out of options to solve this type of problem. Google toolbar did not block them either. !!!

Backup your stuff and reformat. repeat once a year.

You could also look at registry cleaners, like RegCleaner or RegScrubXP (the 2 I have)

If it's really bad and nothing works, try using system restore to go back to before it was a problem before you reformat. I see reformatting as an extreme step.

so if this happens again, vwap, everything is ready, cept drivers may be a bit old

I agree, D-Rob. Reformatting is a definite pain which I try hard to avoid, although, system restore has never really worked well for me, it's worth a try.

BTW, location: in jail???

Some of the rep thread folks are doing Scooby-Doo avatar themes (inspired by a group MSN Messenger conversation), so I decided I'd represent all the villans. Since the villans were all caught, they'd all be in jail.
