It may help to post your system specifications

What system are you using and what are the specifications?

Have you tried re-installing the game? If you have already done that and that didn't work, then you might try and go into the options menu under the game start window (the one that pops up when you put the CD in. Again, go to options and check if there is anything abnormal about the game settings in this section. This might lead you in the right direction.

Also, are you using I9KFanGui? because this game can heat up your video card and if you have the Ultra you might also experience crashes during the character creation stage. So download that.

If that doesn't work you may have to simply wait for a patch to come out.

Hope that helped

Newest Direct X driver too, in case you hadn't already thought of it.

Had same problem. Rename the music folder to something else and that will fix it. No idea why, as my stepson has the exact same laptop with same upgrades and has no problem with the music.

You will not have music in the game, but it is no big deal, as you get all the sound effects, voices, etc - just no music. Many people turn the music off anyway.

One thing I want to add is that the game runs much better w/o the Audigy 2. It does not sound as good but it runs much better. BTW-I also turned off music as I find it distracting (when life gets a soundtrack I'll start using music in games). The only time I crash is when I exist and I hear everyone crashes there if they play for more than a couple of hours.

Did you run drivercleaner before installing new drivers? Most of the time this wont matter and there will be no side effects if you ignore drivercleaner, but it has solved a few of my problems in the past (for instance, I was getting lockups in fear. reinstalling drivers did nothing, so I utilized drivercleaner and it no longer locked up).. use driver cleaner when you uninstall your drivers, then reinstall the xg-moibleforce 84.25 and see what happens.. if it is strictly a driver issue, this should solve it.
