I haven't seen a single post today and things have been too quiet for the past two days. I had to see for myself if the threads were still active or not.
but... to ensure I don't waste space, Hypersonic posted on their site recently that the 160gb 5400 Ultra ATA drives are now selectable for the Aviator notebooks. I know it isn't SATA, but for those who are still using PATA, and can do two drives - that is some major space.
Specs are as follows:
Capacity: 160 GB
Speed: 5400 rpm
Seek time: 12.5 ms avg
Interface: Ultra ATA/100
Special Features
• SoftSonic FDB motor: Delivers inaudible operating acoustics
• 8-Mbyte cache buffer: Optimizes performance so applications run fast and smooth
• 5400-RPM spin speed: Provides almost 50 percent more performance for notebook computers while maintaining battery longevity
• QuietStep ramp load technology: Enables whisper-quiet load/unload acoustics and 900 G's of non-operating shock tolerance
Distinctions
• 4200-like power consumption for maximum battery life
• Whisper-quiet load/unload acoustics
• Operating shock of 250 Gs to withstand rugged notebook environment
Just thought I would share for those who are looking to purchase a new system, or for those who have an order in and want to change specs (if possible depending status).
Catch you all later!
