Typical build times for Australia?

Hi all,

Just out of curiosity, has anybody here ordered an 8600 from Dell in Australia? I just recently put my order through, took two days to even appear on the site, then other day or so to display any information on it at all. It isn't showing any dates or estimates or anything.

What is the system for the US? Do you get estimated build times? And for anyone in Australia, how long did it take you to get your system after you ordered it?

Finally, just as a side note, has anybody seen the site www.ezlaptop.com? Supposedly claim to give you a free laptop after receiving 'credits' through advertisers email, anybody know if there is any truth in it? (I would seriously doubt it, except the logic seems sound, so I don't know.) If it is legit though...

Hello there.

It took exactly two weeks for my 8600 to be delivered (Sydney). But that's with the Christmas holiday in between.

Hmm, fair enough.

I should point out I just discovered that the order is actually being processed through Dell Singapore Apparently work put all their orders through Singapore, must be cheaper or something. That's gonna add some time to it Not happy.

*LOL* Well, with any luck, that will be the case and I'll soon join the ranks of the many happy (non-Hitachi ) 8600 owners

Just out of curiosity... anybody buy one of those snap-on covers for the 8600? I kinda got the Red Lava one on a spur of the moment thing Still, with any luck it'll look good.

*stares at te 8.9" Picturebook screen* Definately be an adjustment All that extra screen space!

Yup, it's a C1MT. Not a bad lappy as far as ultra-portables go, however not quite fast enough anymore, hence the reason for the upgrade.

Well, not sure what this means, but checked it today and it has 'Bill Cut Date' under 'International Transit Details' as yesterday. What the hell is Bill Cut Date?

Hey Ravenq,

Im in the same boat as you, can now see "yesterday" for bill cut date...
How long did it take for yours to arrive?

Ive called the customer service number, and they told me that it had arrived in their warehouse located in sydney, and is awaiting delivery. They told me that I can not collect my order for "security" reasons, and it would be dropped off in 5 days.

As you'd understand im not impressed, has any1 else been able to collect theirs?
