GRAW demo bites the big one - Page 2

For all of you with 1920x1200 screens, I figured out how to force higher resolutions so it doesn't look quite as crappy.

Find you Ghost Recon game folder, then go to 'Data', then 'Settings' and open the 'renderer_settings' XML file in Notepad.

In the first few lines of this there is the resolution setting. Simply remove what's there and put your desired res e.g. "1600 1200".

Then save. The in-game resolution option will now look a bit of a mess, but it worked fine for me.

I have tried it at max settings, textures only med (i didn´t saw high, anisotropic 8) and it runned very well, it seems worse playable than battlefield, less fun, when you run it doesn´t seem you are runnig.
Temperatures seem quite good 76º gpu 68º cpu
I would try it later at 1920x1200

the final version is exactly the same as the demo.

After much tweaking and trying out things I was able to play the game at 1280x768, 16xAF (no difference with 8AF), low effects, med post effects and no shadows with an FPS of about 30-34. Still looked very average.
Decided to cancel my pre-order. Might think about buying it when I've upgraded my desktop pc.

Although the mood of the demo was very good (as probably will be in the full game), I'll pass on it and wait for HL2:Aftermath and Battlefield 2142, considering HL2 and BF2 these ought to be quite similar in terms of performance.

I guess my 6800 is running out of steam .. but so does the Diesel engine GRIN used for the game. I don't see the performance increase much with future patches (and driver updates), as well as to see the graphics reaching the graphical level that can be seen on the official screenshots.

Anybody with a top high end SLI system that can reproduce those graphics paired with a good constant framerate (ie +45 fps) ?.

Hopefully the latter, since I have a 360 Since both companies are known for making good games for both PCs and consoles, its prob the latter.

Hopefully you are wrong: the XB version of GRAW is crappy when compared to 360.

edited the xls file, with high all settings, and 1920x1200 it seems to run ok not any slows downs, but i still don´t like the game.

It may just be me, but I DL'ed the 84.25's for Oblivion, which helped. But those drivers made all my other games have much worse performance.

It's now crashed twice on me.

I installed the 84.43 drivers and got a great boost in performance. Have it running fullscreen @ 1280x800 with 16x filtering, dynamic lights off, all other settings medium, plus disabled EAX and lowered the sound quality.

Ghost Recon Retreat has some performance tips: http://ghostrecon.3dretreat.com/default.asp#6210

I've had no problems whatsoever, running it at 1440x900 (or whatever the highest one is in game) with all the settings set to the max.

and there's your solution right there. I have GRAW on 360 and it is God's gift to first person shooting. Most FPS fun I've had since Perfect Dark for N64. Seems to me that these games geared towards super high end PCs that are also on 360 (Oblivion, GRAW, FEAR (soon)), make the 360 really worth it.

I played PC and 360 demos and they are absolutely different, I like team control on 360 better but when it comes to aiming keyboard+mouse is the best, also cross-com works kinda different and I didnt find spy drone in the PC demo yet. I have 84.43 installed and the game runs ok. Now that Ive tried both version I think I'll be getting the game for 360 after all.
