Side by side Dell vs. Sager LCD's

OK, so I was bored and thought I'd throw up a side by side comparison of Sager's LCD's to Dell's LCD's. There were some specs I couldn't find anywhere (designated by the '?' marks) -- if anyone knows the answer, I'll update the image.

From this, I think we can conclude the Sager's new UXGA is indeed superior to the Dell Ultrasharp, with exception to a modest lead in response time on the Ultrasharp. Something I wasn't aware of until I plugged in the numbers.

Good luck in getting the 8887's 16.1" screen info from Clevo or Sager, it's like pulling teeth.

Not a good sign, if it isn't good enough to brag about, it's not good enough.

yea, we're just going to have to give it some time before specs will be released. One of Sony's laptops use this screen, and once a couple of other major brands jump on board, we'll see those specs. Right now, it's probably better to keep it secret.

Try getting it from sony. They use the same screen on their 16.1" so perhaps they're more forthcoming with that info...although you'll probably have to traverse through a ton of channels before you reach someone that knows what he/she's talking about

the fact that sager did release the screen specs on the new 5660 and not on the new 8887 (which some people have been complaining about) is the only reason I havent bought an 8887.

Well, it appears to be 262K colors, 200cdm2 brightness, 200:1 contrast, and rise 30 ms fall 20 ms response time. It's all unofficial or confirmed by Sager, Clevo, or Hitachi, but what appears to be the case. I'm not sure of the angle viewing, but would guess it's at least 50 degrees around and a better viewing angle than the old 5660 UXGA and the 15.7" SXGA in the 8886.

I don't know... It may not necessarily have to do with bragging... Hitachi may have just not released the specs... I couldn't find any white papers on any of their laptop screens. I found many on their desktop LCDs... So it could just be that they don't release white papers on the laptop LCD screens?

8887 & Dell 8200 UXGA Comparison

Hey all,

Got mine yesterday and a couple of the guys at my office have 8200 UXGA models and there was a unanimous decision that the Sager was better. Brightness, sharpness and size. Awesome, shipped the 18th with Hyper Threading enabled too.

Unreal 2003 will be loaded this weekend!

Take care all,

Kev

Would you be able to get a hold of a digital camera and take some side by side comparisons (similar to PCTorque's side by side comps in a dark room)? I think many people have been wanting to see this type of comparison for a while.

Umm...Don't know how this will go over:

Once I get my 5660 (will be in june so probably a 5670), I'm going to do some comparisons with my friend's new Latitude.

He *swears* his uncle got him a new uber-screen (my words, not his) that isn't released yet for Dell, and I whole-heartedly believe him. Comparing the side view of his with the side view of the Sager's, I do believe his is a better screen.

Before you slaughter me, I'm going to remind myself to see if he has spec's for it I could post.
