Yeah, it's not really worth the money, but its not all that expensive either. It only supports 5.1 if the actual chip itself can support multi-channel audio like the AC97 on desktop computers. It theoretically supports up to 7.1. Soo... for the sigmatel one... youre stuck with stereo. So yeah, it's not a chip and its more of a universal driver replacement than a codec I think. I cant say that theres like a huge difference in sound quality, but there is some. It does enable EAX though if you gamers think its that necessary. From my experiences however, it atleast does not increase CPU load.
