Computer Freezes

Thread Starter
My computer freezes when I open too many applications, and it has only happened recently. I'm pretty sure that it's not due to overheating or anything, 'cause I also did a check up on the CPU temperature and all. Are there any other possible causes for this and what would I need to do to fix it? Thanks in advance for anybody who replies

What are your specs?

Your specs could help.
I just have similar problems with my desktop to. I ended up with a new power suply cause it looks like my old 300W can't take 2HDD's and a DVD, DVD-RW at the same time + I'm getting a GF5800 wich needs an additionla power socket.
The second happen just yesterday. A friend brought a 256MB RAM module and in less then 5 min the computer restarts if it's in.

So try playing with the RAM if you have more then one module or borrow from someone.
Second...are you sure you mobo displays correctly the CPU's temp??? Old mobos measur the temp under the CPU, only newer ones know how to calulate the temp inside the CPU's core wich is the main temp and the highest.

My vote goes for ram as well, try running memtest. But, the rest of your specs would help.
