Dunno if anyone has posted this yet, but here it is, for all those who have been waiting to see a picture of an actual 8890 with the 15" screen.

there's my beastie. I love it. screen looks great, and make no mistake it can be seen from ANY angle... Except for behind it..

eeK! it's a little nasty, but the better image quality and contrast should make up for it

it reminds me of those old laptops, if you just look at teh screen and disregard the bottom part. you know, those kinds that were about 3 inches thick, and about 14 pounds?

thanks for the pic though!!!

heh. right - the 'laptops' that accepted ISA cards? is that what you speak of? good stuff... as an aside, our first computer was a clone of the original compaq - the 1' x 1' x 3' 'lugable' with a 7" green screen and 2 (thats right, TWO) 5 1/4" floppy drives. PORTABLE POWER INDEED!!!!!!

it occurs to me that this almost accurately describes the 8890 itself...

Yikes!!! That's a lot of extra plastic surrounding the 15" screen. Definitely not for me, but thanks for the pic, VV.

To each their own i guess - but losing that centimeter and a half or so of plastic is definitely not worth $290... But sager and pctorque sure appreciate it!

i'm just waiting for mine to come in

i think those are exactly what i'm thinking about luke

Haha..I have one of those right next to me..I had to use it for a couple months at school before I got my 5680.

I waited for a long time for the most complete laptop construction. Finally, Sager matched a screen (wide angle UXGA) worth the graphic card inside. I like the machine tech specs a lot, but... well... the notebook's visage is pretty pathetic I must say. Now I really hesitate to buy. Does anybody have any idea how to re-pack the 8890 into a "new skin"? I know it's utopic... It was just a scream of my hurt heart after seeing so many retarded laptops with a nice aesthetic design, and now this powerful PC embedded in such a... ehm... container? Really, does anybody know something that can help with this?
u know, i read a while ago people complaining abotu the aesthetics about the 8890, but i just shrugged my shoulders and thought "what do i care?"

but after seeing this 15", i think it's something to discuss. oh well, what are we ognna do?

I have the 8890 with 16" screen and I love it. I'm a big time gamer and I haven't had any problems with ghosting or dead pixies.

I would love to put my 8890 into a new skin/wrap. Does anyone know how to do this or where to buy?

mann, was money important to you when you were purchasing your sager?

bah. paint, skins, etc... BAH i say! Its all about function. I could really care less what it looks like as long as it performs as expected.

Anyone who thinks otherwise needs their sensibilites examined. But whatever... to each their own.

Got a chance to compare that pic to my 16" 8890 (sitting right next to the desktop), and I don't think its that bad. Same as Mann, mine is perfectly fine with the games I run (even Morrowind in a big fight - unless the game itself crashed ). CimCity 4 is actually playable!

My first 'laptop' was in fact one of those grey Toshiba jobs. 3200SX/16. AC-only, 2 ISA slots, 7 Megs mem (with the upgrades I did to it), and the 'Orangescale' gas plasma @ 640x480. Wieghed about same as my 8890 does today, and had actively used it for 8-9 years. Rugged beast too.

So to me that 15" 8890 looks fine, though I still would not get it due to personal taste regarding readable text on small screens. 1280x1024 is 16" or 17" for me, no smaller or bigger.

Oh come on guys. Buy some rose coloured glasses if you have to Mann. The 8890 exudes raw testosterone. None of this nancy boy brushed aluminium crap (except tastefully done as side running boards ). No blue back lit keys for this camper. The 8890 is a blokes computer. You can whip it out and the girls swoon, dogs bark and these wimpy Centrino models wet their WiFi antannae . Blokes own Sager 8890's. Blokes own V8 cars. Blokes don't need blue flashing lights (especially cruising down the freeway ) to show they have lumpy technology under the keyboard.

No blokes proudly carry around 8890's in the full knowledge that most people can't handle a Sager .

To tell you the truth, my wife paid for my Sager. Now I have no reason for not coming to bed, along with my 8890 and every game under the sun.

Aussie your right, "8890 exudes raw testosterone" and that one reason I ask for it. I wanted the power and that what I got POWER.
