1280x1024 is 16" or 17" for me, no smaller or bigger.
I have no troubles reading text at this res on my 15"... It gets a little squinty at 1600x1200, but its good when i need the realestate.

the 16" screen is awesome. i use the 8890 for gaming, 3d manipulation, FTP hosting, photoshop... and as my TV (its cheaper than buying a tv... and allowed me to go 3.2 EE! w00t!)

whats wrong with the aesthetics? are you pansies? do your nails match your pocketbook which matches you mouse and your keyboard? damn... the 8890 is a beautiful machine because of whats inside...

just like all, well, most of us...

But i hate hummers... So that cant be... and besides, it really isnt the hummer of laptops by any streach. Maybe one of the panasonic toughbooks, or the itronix gobooks... i think that title would require it pass a drop test, and i wouldnt suggest trying that with the 8890...

i got my 15" 8890 yesterday, and it's not as bad as i imagined. i don't however, see what everyone is talking about about the viewing angles. it looks like regular lcd viewing angles to me
